Woah, she's got superhuman instincts, she sensed the danger before the incident happened, crazzzy woman.

I think she just saw the lady starting to exit the train early and tried getting there in time to tell her to stop it but I like the way you think

The way she is rushing to the spot, definitely that does not looks like she's catching up to the old woman to tell her to stop but I like the way you think

You need to run along the train for a while before you stop to safely exit. The old woman was never going to do that, and the cop probably guessed what was going to happen. Good instincts on her part.

The cop probably knew she was gonna fall because she was stepping down facing the wrong direction.
Typically, those getting down from a moving train/bus do so facing the direction of the vehicle and jog a bit to avoid falling face down due to inertia. Getting down in the opposite direction even at low speeds will almost certainly make you fall backwards.

I'm from South Asia. If the door of a bus or train is on the left side, you ALWAYS exit with your left foot if the vehicle is moving. This is drilled into you as a child if you use public transport. Otherwise, this exact thing happens. The officer saw her step out with the right foot and immediately knew what was going to happen.
Basically, always step out of moving vehicles with the foot that's opposite the direction of travel.

all in all, the old lady was on the wrong footing , yes I agree but it takes sheer super-duper awareness to catch this thing in the fleeting moment and act accordingly, simply said, super human instincts.

Oh, absolutely. There's no denying she's an absolute hero here. She noticed the wrong leg, rushed there, grabbed the arm clean without a single fumble, and yanked the passenger to safety. Many wouldn't even notice the wrong stepping.

Many would just rush after everything took place but still it's just stupid why people can't wait for it to stop and then get down, how can people be so uninterested for their own safety? always beats me.

well, why they can't just wait for a few seconds for the train to completely stop?

Can you imagine the amount of jail space they would need if the Indian poilce arrested every petty crime instead of issuing justice right there and then?

u/ZampyaMaster007 13h ago
Sadly that instant justice is not working in 90% of the cases as people are still doing same stupid things even after getting slapped by police

u/futureman07 13h ago
Is it perfect? No. But I can see the need for some stick smacking in a country with 1.4 billion people.
1
u/ZampyaMaster007 10h ago
Well thats true!! All I am saying is we need smacking and then fear of judicial system also which is not the case

When you live somewhere with lots of people, you learn to be fast and get stuff done - just in usual life. Taking your sweet time for everything is a luxury in empty / sparse places.

This is untrue. This population narrative is empirically disproved rather easily.
India's population density on average, is lower than the Netherlands, and its mega-cities have densities akin to Macau, Monaco, Singapore and similar urban metropolises. This whole "too many people" narrative is used to dismiss, or excuse India's and Indians' lack of discipline, risk assessment, and overall apathy towards rules that are for not only their own good, but the broader community general. It's why littering is a national hobby that everyone excels at, or why loud music, fireworks, etc just go with individuals "celebrating"; no one cares or has even the remotest respect for the other person.
Until the government takes it upon itself to start changing broader socio-cultural values and norms, starting from schools, this won't get better. This is why when the government puts a garbage can in front of people, not only the poor, but also the privileged (people who drive cars) still litter cause they couldn't be bothered. You can extrapolate this to other aspects too, like misogyny. Killing rapists, doesn't address the rape problem for example; addressing generational sexism in schools does, but the government couldn't be bothered.

to the point that I am risking my own life? no thanks! I have better plans. clearly the station is empty so i don't understand the need to alight on a moving train.

u/Past-Earth-8417 14h ago
idk but it's so common in India which I'm still trynna figure out

if you are late in an overpopulated country, there is nothing left for you, although in this example there is nothing to be hurried for her, but that mentality is already ingrained in the mind of the people, let's just say that if you wait in line you are never gonna get what you need so you gotta hustle

If people actually watch the video, they'll know the train is departing from the station, and they said that in the starting of the video, not even in the end.
Attention spans are fried fr.

I don’t know how some people are still alive with how clumsy they are. My stepdad being one of them

I know when I'm getting off of a moving train I always make sure to hold on to the train.

Yah, she's definitely seen this or worse happen multiple times to predict what's gonna happen so fast

Pretty strong lady there, and of course the adrenaline kicked in. Good on her for being quick on the job.

I'm not used to seeing footage of Indian police and them not hitting people with sticks. Makes a nice change.

In 2 seperate incidents that I myself have seen while travelling in train is women getting off the train facing the opposite direction of the moving train. It's like they don't know how velocity works.

Can I just say, this is what it feels like to be a mom, you just pre-see each thing go wrong-- without any of these superhuman abilities

I think the woman when landed fully got startled when she saw a cop rushing towards her and due to that she fell, the fear led her to grip the train rod tight.

Police save passengers life, asks if she’s ok and Redditors complain the cop was asking “illegal fascist questions”

u/treefrog_surprise 11h ago
good news, redditors didn’t say that actually! you can rest, it’s going to be okay.
