I played the original bf1942 in my 20s, so I've seen all of the iterations of BF over the decades. 2142 wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. It was monstrously buggy, but at the time it was kinda cool. We hadn't really had any decent "futuristic" FPS before then, so it was a bit of fresh air. The Titans were pretty fun.
My biggest fear though, with the extreme monetization of BF that's going on, they'd run a remake into the ground by nickel and diming anything that's fun behind paywalls. 2142 was kind of the final days of expansion packs, which they called "booster packs" for that game. But I still feel like we got more value out of games with that model than we do with the current seasonal model they're doing now. Wish we'd return to that.

That's weird, I played on teams in BF2142 and put in a ton of hours and would never characterize the game as monstrously buggy. I dont remember many bugs at all.

Yep, I wouldnt say buggy and ive had hundreds of hours in it, but the only thing I remember is the weird clipping when drop-pod landing on a titan, - But I believe this was due to the limitation of the game engine,

This is exactly it! Lots of games we love if remade would be ruined because the business model of gaming has drastically changed.
BF6 for example is a great game in my opinion, but due to the expense of making games and the share holders wanting to get their money, everything from the menu to the fomo events is about monetisation.
Baldurs Gate 3 is probably the main example from recent times of making a game for the love of the product and being satisfied with that.
The live service model in principle is a good thing as whales ultimately pay for the rest of us to keep getting content, but the whole thing is designed to tap into the fomo psychology and make us feel like we're missing out.

They're going back on their word so its understandable people are annoyed. Now If an option was added to toggle skin visibility, we'd have a middle ground for both sides

I get being annoyed by all complaining about every little thing. Also gotta remember the unhappy people are always gonna be the lowest and the first to write a bad review. Same thing with shipping. Out of all the times you go shopping and nothing goes wrong, you probably don’t write the store a good review, most people don’t. But a lot of people can’t wait to get home and write a bad review / submit a complaint if one thing goes wrong. So kinda gotta take that into consideration when reading the non stop complaining.
But I agree with the complainers about these recent skins. They promised not to do this shit and to keep all the skins realistic. It’s just another example of them going back on promises.
Like, it’s not gonna stop me from playing and enjoying the game but it is a little annoying because you know they are gonna keep releasing these dumb skins that are not realistic.

If you’re playing battlefield and not getting into a mood of killing/surviving getting better guns playing the dope new rapid trios mode or trying the PvE mode that this skin came with you lost sight on what fun is. People are delusional as well because if a game launches and they don’t put any new content no new skins or modes people still complain that there’s nothing to do… make it make sense
