Discussion Matchmaking over the years

Was matchmaking an issue 10+ years ago? We don't remember matchmaking being such a point of frustration and conversation in older BF and CoD titles. How does it feel like we've gone backwards in the last 5-8 years? SBMM, non-persistant lobbies, same map multiple times in a row, bots, etc... If it ain't broke, don't break it.

Do you agree that this is a relatively new problem? Or are we just blinded by the nostalgia?

I remember bfbc2 and matchmaking wasn’t an issue then.

On bfbc2 on xbox when playing with a party you would routinely have party members split onto different teams

I don’t remember that being an issue for me. Me and my brother would play all the time. But if it was an issue it wasn’t worth noting. Bc2 had its shit together imo

Lol it was an issue in every single battlefield. This has literally been the best by a country mile as far as staying together with friends game to game

I mean it wasn't in battlefield because we had server browser from bf3 onward. The veterans used it to constantly stay in full matches. The less knowledgeable players who clicked matchmaking got put into queues for full matches unless hundreds were matchmaking. The few times I remember seeing lobbies fill in bf3, bf4, hardline, and bf1 they filled quickly during their primes. Obviously as years have gone on servers tend to have die out periods especially on weekday super late at night. But even with that you can still hop on BF4 and BF1 most days and find a full persistent server within moments. Then spend the next few hours enjoying it. Bf3 still has a PC community but console servers were shut down unfortunately a few years ago. It lived it's life honestly.

Bro is over here watching the constant blowouts every match and somehow thinks, hmmm, yes, clearly the problem is that this game is using skill-based-matchmaking.
