Here's an opposite example... Burger King used to suck ass. But last couple of times I've had it, it has been solid. Give em a try again if you feel so inclined.
I think it’s more that some specific menu items are terrible, and some are fantastic.
Like their Chicken King sandwich is one of the absolute best fried chicken sandwiches available through a drive thru. But their normal chicken sandwiches are worse than what my kids get at their school cafeteria.
[Edit] Maybe you’re right, I don’t think the chicken king or deluxe or whatever it’s called is a menu item any more.
I think you meant the Ch'king or whatever it was in 2023. The current Chicken King sandwich looked and tasted like lunch school depression. Jack in the Box or Whataburger still make the better chicken sandwich.
Yeah, it was hitting but quality is already dipping again. Cold burgers, back to hardly no toppings no sauce etc....but its in a box and bun isnt squished. Bout all it has going now. On this come back it was great for a short minute. I was always in here propping them up. Not anymore.
How would that bring back customers though? Because if I go to a place a few times and it sucks I'm not going to go back just in case it doesn't suck now 🤣
Link your Walmart in the BK app. Then the free whopper will show under deals until you use it. Once used, it will say “not available until 10/1/2026” or whatever.
LOL I know they have a streaming service tie in but this cracks me up. Walmart remains good at knowing both what the American public wants, and the abuse we'll take.
All fast food is trash now and OP is probably a paid bot in a desperate last attempt to save bk or so close to starving that literally anything tastes good.
BK has definitely been astroturfing reddit as of late. I needed a long drive after work one day and said fuckit ill try it. First time at BK in 3 years
The 10 chicken nuggets for 3.99 weren’t the worst deal. It’s their banner deal to get people to the store. But everything else was way too expensive and low quality
The last time I ate bk chicken nuggets was probably 8 years ago, 10/$1 or something like that bc they were trying so hard to revive them.
It tasted exactly like if you deep fried a super mild, chicken flavored sponge in low temp, old grease.
It was a diabolical assault on my taste buds, even my dog turned then away. I was so deeply offended I will never grace bk with my presence for as long as I live. Gross.
And they abuse tax write offs for staffing mostly people with disabilities and felons, which is why there's long waits and food still gets fucked up all the time.
It ain’t too bad with Walmart+’s 25% off BK once a day deal. But meal prices are also subject to whatever area one lives in. My medium double Texas whopper meal might be $15 where somewhere else can be $18 or so.
this is the case for all fast food these days, but the app has great deals. as long as your cool with getting ala carte options. but combos are never a good deal anyway
They seem like they only concentrate on certain items. I don't know what they did to the small burgers, but the patty is the size of a silver dollar (but not as thick) and it's all bun. Stale bun to boot.
Speaking of which, did they change their McNuggets? I remember them being my favorite item on the menu growing up, and they were one of my go-tos for lunch in college, but the past few years, I've always been disappointed every time I ordered them--flavorless, spongy meat, barely crispy coating that's already limp by the time I've eaten 3-4 of them.
Genuinely, a Whopper is a big and very solid burger for the same price as a tiny QPC. It’s one of the few sandwiches at a true fast food chain that is a meal by itself.
I'd love to try them, but every burger king near me is terrible. They are all chronically understaffed. Waiting 20+ minutes in the drive thru on a weeknight is normal around here.
People just parrot the old sentiment that it’s ass but it really wasn’t that bad before. Now it’s even better than ever for some reason AND on top of that Wendy’s has taken a huuuge nosedive in comparison
Ha, Burger King is my gut answer to OP question, and nothing else I can think of is even close in my experience. It was really good in the 70s through somewhere late 90s, considered uppity top tier fast food in my area. They had people come by your table when dining in, asking how the food is like a real restaurant, they'd take your cups and refill soft drinks for you free, even before anybody else was doing free refills, they'd bus your trays and garbage, and they even walked around handing out Andes candies or mint Pocky Sticks as an after dinner mint, and the food was exceptional for fast food. Never once got tired lettuce, stale bun, meat thats been under the heat lamp too long, or anything like that.
It's absolutely terrible now compared to its former self, at least where I live. The one nearest me, I got violently ill after 3 out of the last 6 times I ate there, and those 6 times took close to 20 years, because it was so bad every time I'd go, that it would be years before I forgot how truly bad it was and decided to try again. Service was terrible 100% of the time, waits were long, and the food, which isn't good in the first place these days in my opinion, would rarely be fresh. My closest location actually just closed down and went out of business a few months ago due to lack of business, and it was in the parking lot of a busy Walmart shopping center surrounded by high density residential. An adjacent Taco Bell in the same lot, is one of the most profitable in the area and has a line most of the time its open, so its not like location was the issue. I do feel like this may be regional, because a few venture capitalist groups own several BK locations each, and ALL the BK locations in my current area are just terrible, like I'd rank them low in every single category. Always dirty, always bad service, always long wait, always terrible food, sometimes food make you sick, etc.
They're really experiencing a comeback. Wendy's is attempting the same, but they have the order all switched up.
Burger King addressed quality issues, and then when their product was back up to speed, did a bit of a retro packaging by bringing back the box for whoppers and stuff like that.
Wendy's on the other hand, just brought back the yellow in their packaging along with a really sincere tweet about "hey the yellow is back, but that's not enough, we'll make the food taste good again, for reals" and I predict abject failure.
I feel the opposite. Used to like it during the early-mid 2000s but it fell off pretty hard for awhile. I did try it this weekend actually on a roadtrip and it was ok.
I'm going to jump in on this one. I am convinced that the Whopper is the best "true" fast food burger of any national chain, by a good margin. Especially since the aforementioned fall of Wendy's.
For definitional purposes, I am not considering Five Guys or Shake Shack to be true fast food. I have them one step above, as fast casual. And I'm ruling out In-n-Out as not being national, although as much as I enjoy an In-n-Out burger, I think I prefer a Whopper.
The one caveat to that is that at least where I live, BK can be a touch hit or miss, depending on the neighborhood you're in. It's generally consistent.
Its been solid because they raised their price point wayyy up. I pretty much quit going after the 2 wopper for $7 deal left. I can get whatavurger for the price of Burger King, and while burker king HAS improved, it hant improved THAT much.
When you have a Culvers and Shake Shack in town, there's little point to going to BK. Prices are all similar but the quality at the former two beat the latter, easily.
My issue with BK is their staff/quality control consistently suck. 90+% of the ones ive been to have rude stuff with big attitudes that have a penchant for forgetting stuff. Mcdonalds on the other hand is at least a well oiled machine typically.
As a vegetarian their impossible burger is often the only thing with decent protein I can eat while on business in certain parts of the world. (I usually book an Airbnb with a kitchen and make my own food- but it’s great in a pinch)
I just had the same experience a month ago. I randomly decided to try the Texas Double Whopper (looked ok in pictures) and it was honestly an amazing burger. I didn’t realise their quality was suddenly better up here in New England.
I grabbed one of their Texas whatever’s the other day and it kicked ass. If they upped their bun quality it would go a long way, but as is they’re the only fast food I’ll bother with.
Most in my city have closed but the one nearest me is still open. I went years not going because this franchise in particular sucked. Been twice in the last month and it has done a 180. The food and service was fantastic.
Burger King has always had the best veg on a fast food burger of the major chains. Crisp lettuce, fresh onions, plenty of pickles, and tomatoes that taste like tomatoes. The burger itself, meh - and the fries have always sucked.
Don't get me wrong, I still eat meat. And I'm not gonna get on a soapbox about how meatless living is better. But if you're someone who doesn't eat meat or are just trying to cut back on your meat intake, it's nice to be able to snag one of those.
