So I wanted to get a larger tank for my betta (he is in a 6 gallon currently) and ordered a UNS 45L. I assumed that 45L meant 45 liters, as in 12 gallons. So I wait for a week and when it arrives, and only after scaping the entire tank, I realize it’s WAY too small. So I look it up and it turns out “45L” is just the model name or whatever, and the tank is only 3.8 gallons. 🤦♂️ I thought my sand, rocks, and driftwood had just displaced a lot of water and that’s why it filled up so quickly…Yes, I am a newb to aquariums if you can’t tell.
And it was literally RIGHT THERE on the website and I somehow didn’t see it. Totally my fault.
Wondering if anyone else has done anything similar (mostly so I can feel better about myself…)

I did nothing but sharpen the original RAW file from my phone (other than add my watermark). No color tweaks. No highlights/shadows adjustments. I figured out a new way to orient the exterior lights against my tank so that it throws both shadows and highlights on the surface of every internal structure from multiple directions. You may need your phone screen at full brightness. Zoom in slowly. Do you see all of that intricate detail on internal structure like I do? I think the easiest spot to start with is just a little ways behind the eye.

I just finished setting up this 20 Gallon, I'm just tossing around ideas of what to stock it with. I will absolutely have a small shoal of Corys, probably Julii because my LFS always has them and I have yet to keep them. My initial idea was to keep a group of 20 cardinals or a dozen or so rummy nose tetras, I'd love to do CPDs but they are so expensive and out of budget for me.
I live in the Northeastern US and the colder temps have me worried about ordering online.

I am blown away by the love and engagement of this group. I just got into fish keeping this summer and everyone is so passionate about this hobby, it's really energizing and refreshing. Communities like this make me want to continue to expand on my hobbies.
Here is some footage from today: Rice fish and Endler guppies enjoying their breakfast, with the amano and neocaridina shrimp zooming in the background.

so im about 4 months in deep into this hobby and boy do I love it. all of my tanks, filters and co2 canisters are bought second hand, including the metal rack. really enjoy this hobby and would be happy to hear some feedback from you guys!
i have 3 aquariums now as listed below
this was my first tank and its kinda ugly i know but tbh i think it was a decision job for a newbie. researched on youtube for many hours and this was what i came up with. decided to go with a heavily planted tank with co2 and filtered through a fluval 207 packed with cycled media that i was lucky enough to get from the guy who sold the fluval 207 to me. its been running for a few months now and i cant be happier with it, although i do feel like rescaping it soon lol.
this was my second tank as my wife wanted to keep a betta in it. currently its empty and still cycling. planning to either keep a betta or pea puffers in here, depending on what she prefers. currently running an oase filtosmart 60 and co2!
now this is my 3rd tank and this is my pride and joy. i had been eyeing the apistos ever since i set up my first tank. finally managed to get an amazing deal on the tank and light with them being FREE!! someone was giving up the hobby and it was the perfect size for my rack. ended up getting a filtosmart 60 with cycled media so the tank was ready for livestock within 2 weeks. the fish snd shrimp have been in there for a few days and they look happy for now. its lightly planted as i wanted to focus more on visibility of the fish and the design of the scape itself. might not be the prettiest out there but it sure is the nicest one on the rack as of now.
please feel free to give some advice on how i could improve the setup and would appreciate any feedback! thanks guys.

Grabbed a few snails, a very small crawfish about an inch in length, a small piece of random plant and some rocks. For substrate i used a handful of dirt from a potted plant and black sand that i bought. Dumped in the whole bottle of water from the river with all the critters and filled the rest with the same temp well water. I do a water change once a week and feed algae wafers and crab cuisine pellets. Sometimes I'll drop a veggie in there. I had no expectations when i started this thing but it's completely taken off and everything is thriving without any problems. I have never tested the water, dont even own a test kit or any chemicals. It's been about two months already. The crawfish has molted a few times already and is very active. I know its probably already too big for this tank so I'm going to put it in a bigger tank soon. Maybe just put it back where i found it.

I wish I had taken screenshots but JBAquatics blocked me and Etsy deleted the thread. Initially I wasn’t going to say anything but after reading other people’s experiences I had to say something.
I had bought plants a month ago and waited patiently because of their move that I wasn’t aware about. I made the decision to wait since it was my fault for not looking at the shipping date.
When I first asked if it was going to ship earlier the owner stated that it will. I about messaged weekly being kind and patient and they said the same excuse. Fast forward to last week when it was the “estimated shipping dates” I asked if it wasn’t going to ship then I would like a refund. Needless to say they got defensive and an argument ensued. I got my money back but I wished them peace cuz obviously they were going through some stuff. I don’t post much especially reviews but JBaquatics was probably the worst customer service I’ve experienced.
They probably do a good job if you don’t interact with them or message them but please for the love of God if you want to keep your good day drama free don’t message them at all.
I know my post sounds like the others and I don’t have any screenshots for tea this shop really is a menace to our peaceful hobby.

Hi! This is my 20gal tank and I want to see if I can add some more fish because it always looks bare (most of them like to be hiding yk) :') or if my tank is overstocked.
The temp ranges between 24.5°c to 25°c
Parameters are in pic 2 c:
It's stocked with:
-5 kuhlis
-9 red neon blue eye rainbows
-3 white panda Borneo loach
-2 tiger hillstream loach
-amano shrimp
-red fire shrimp
-1 tiny SAE
I'd rlly appreciate some advice, thank you!

In case anyone was wondering about Hewbie…
In the event anyone was wondering about Hewbie.🐡☺️ He is my porcupine pufferfish who I posted a few months back who got sick and went to the vet and was treated for an internal infection. He is eating and his energy is up which are both good things. But…he is still skinny which is super unhealthy for his size. I have over the past few months since the beginning of August tried to fatten him up. Feeding him multiple times a day did not seem to help appease his appetite and led to a decline in water quality. And if I overfed him he just sulks in the corner in a food coma and gets super unhappy. Like when you are stuff on Thanksgiving Day.😂 The vet really wants me to weigh him once a day for a week. I have not done this…yet because I think it would be too stressful for him to take him out of his tank daily especially being a pufferfish. I am still on the fence about whether or not if or when I do this because it would be a better comparison rather than me just looking at him and comparing photos. That being said…I am doing an experimental test of probiotics meant for fish. It is my opinion/evidence supported in aquacultured fishies that prolonged sickness and antibiotic treatment can lead to malnutrition/malabsorption. And it could have killed the good bacteria in his gut similar to what happens with humans. Even though it cured or seemed to have cured/fixed the issue that caused him to go upside down which I/his vet team will never know the exact cause. My biggest fear is he is actively dying or in a deficit or has some other unknown disease or factor then all of this would be for nothing and he could just end up dying anyway. I hope not! He is a fairly young puffer only guesstimated to be around 6ish…3 and a half of which I have had him for the rest of his time was in the big blue sea. My plan is to continue to use these probiotics it has only been a few days. I also will be sending his water out for sequencing to get a better idea of the microbiome and what is living in it as a whole. A better picture than what an ICP-OES or standard aquarium testing can reveal which was insignificant. I may send his DNA sample out too simply for my own curiosity. Thank you for all those who are invested in and adore this fish. He truly is the best! I will update if/when I remember to.🐡❤️
