Hello Freelancers,

this is a short preview of what we have been working on for the past few months.

Freeplay works with up to four players.

Some loot, some enemies, and a world event for now. With more to come in the future.

They cracked something for the servers so they basically have easier access to the things they need to get it going. It was only a matter of time tbh and at this rate we should be flying again some point next year or so

AI has made the emulation scene speed up quite a bit. Look at the progress the PS5 emulator has made over the past week.

This isn't emulation. It's a full rebuild of the game logic that was lost with the official servers.

Not yet, they said on the discord that they would have a closed beta around Christmas and a open beta more likely at the starting months of next year

We never truly appreciated it until it was lost. And I say that as someone who played this game excessively, even after the point where multiplayer was just not possible to matchmake in

Can indefinite flight be added? I hated how you can only fly for a short while.

Personally I don’t think they should allow for indefinite flight.

Because I like using waterfalls, rivers, and lakes to cool me when I get near them to extend my flight. To somewhat simulate irl.

I agree. As much as it would be nice it would ruin some of the gamelplay and immersion by doing this. It feels good flying though waterfalls, skimming the lakes and going under for a quick cooldown.

awesome, i really cant wait for the team to get this up and running. is honestly sad they shut the servers down for this game when theres literally nothing like it. they really never should have cancelled the remake

Different loot, yes, we can't add new enemies but we can e.g. spawn titans in freeplay or make grabbits the enemies

I can't wait to see some other possible new content. Though I am wondering if it's legal, like are y'all gonna end up getting ahold of the IP? Cause I see a lot of potential once the rebuild is finished.

Quick question: is there any risk that EA might try to block this project? I don't really know how this is being done or if there's anything EA might consider illegal, but I really want this to happen and for EA not to try to block it.

As the OP said, they can and probably will, EA are bitter little shrews. But their best chance is if everything is free. If they start to charge for stuff EA will slam them for it, even though they obviously would deserve some reward for all this work, that's not how EA would see it

I wouldn't play this game again. I had my fun but it will be nice for others who never played. But there will never be that same feeling logging in, waiting, disconnecting... Finally finding a group of people to go play through some missions for hours.

Since I used Legion of the Dawn leg armor for my Ranger, I'm hoping we get that back.
