Please check out the Official FAQs on the Amazon Flex website and subreddit rules before posting.

We also have our own FAQ that is also linked to in the sidebar ----------->

The sidebar also has a link to download the Flex app, the Flex Support contact info, the rules for this subreddit, and a warehouse list.

You may find the answer to your question there.

Many questions being asked here are repeat questions and are answered in the FAQ. Please check before making a new post.

If you need help with the Flex app, please include the app version number and whether it's Android or iOS in your post.

Also, please don't post useless threads about how hard it is to grab blocks, people using bots at your warehouse, what times the blocks get released, etc. Those posts add nothing to the discussion and will be removed.

Thanks!

Grand Rapids My first week doing flex I don't feel it's profitable or worth it

First week doing flex and quickly realizing I may be done with this already. The number one reason why is they make you drive insane amount of miles that exceeds your block pay. My rule of thumb is on any gig app I like to make $1 or more per mile. I accepted a block for 2 hours $50 I ended up driving like 70+ miles on this block once I finished then I was still 20+ miles away from the location and city where I picked up from. I'ts not worth it especially with gas ⛽️ being almost $5 a gallon. Not to mention they take you on unpaved roads etc rural areas at all times of the day.

LONG POST.. Amazon Flex Drivers: Are We Independent Contractors or Are We Subsidizing Amazon’s Delivery Costs? Is It Time for a Class Action Lawsuit?

Title: Amazon Flex Drivers: Are We Independent Contractors or Are We Subsidizing Amazon’s Delivery Costs? Is It Time for a Class Action Lawsuit?
I have a serious question for fellow Amazon Flex drivers because, at this point, I think we need to start having a much bigger conversation about Amazon’s business practices and how independent contractors are being compensated.
Today, I was assigned a 3.5-hour route paying approximately $21 an hour. Sounds reasonable on paper, right?
WRONG.
The route started approximately 45 MINUTES away from the Amazon station, and by the time I completed it, I would be approximately AN HOUR AND A HALF away from my house.
That’s an additional 90-minute drive home, unpaid, after already putting substantial mileage on my personal vehicle.
Apparently, another driver had already rejected this route, and I was seriously considering doing the same.
In my opinion, this route should have paid a MINIMUM of $100.
But here’s my bigger issue:
WHY DOES AMAZON NOT DISCLOSE THE ROUTE MILEAGE BEFORE WE ACCEPT A BLOCK?
Think about that for a second.
Uber and Lyft provide drivers with information about trip distance and compensation before they accept or decline certain offers.
Yet Amazon, one of the largest logistics companies in the world, expects independent contractors to accept delivery blocks without knowing:
How many miles they’ll be driving.
How far the first delivery is from the station.
What general area they’ll be delivering in.
How far they’ll end up from their starting location.
Whether the compensation will even justify the mileage, fuel, and wear on their vehicles.
How are we supposed to make informed BUSINESS decisions when Amazon isn’t giving us the information necessary to determine whether an assignment is profitable?
We’re supposedly independent business owners, correct?
Then why aren’t we being given the information that ANY reasonable business owner would require before agreeing to perform a service?
And let’s talk about that $21 an hour.
That’s BEFORE gas, oil changes, tires, brakes, vehicle depreciation, maintenance, insurance, and the additional time spent driving home.
Some drivers are putting HUNDREDS of miles on their vehicles daily.
By the time you calculate the actual expenses, how much are you REALLY earning?
Amazon gets its packages delivered, customers receive their merchandise, and WE absorb the operational expenses that would otherwise fall on the company.
Amazon has effectively transferred a significant portion of its delivery expenses onto independent contractors while maintaining substantial control over the routes we’re assigned.
And somehow, we’re expected to believe this is a fair business arrangement?
I’m not arguing that every route should pay an astronomical amount. I’m arguing that compensation should be proportionate to the actual mileage, time, and operational costs involved.
I’m also arguing that route mileage and general delivery destinations should be disclosed BEFORE drivers commit to an offer, not after they’re already at the warehouse.
Which brings me to my question:
IS IT TIME FOR AMAZON FLEX DRIVERS TO EXPLORE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?
Specifically regarding:
Lack of meaningful route and mileage transparency before accepting delivery blocks.
Whether the compensation structure adequately accounts for the actual demands of assigned routes.
Whether Amazon’s control over route assignments is consistent with the independence we’re supposedly afforded as contractors.
Whether there are consumer protection, contract, or labor-law issues worth investigating, depending on state laws and the agreements we signed.
I’m not an attorney, and I’m not claiming these practices are automatically illegal. But something being written into a contract doesn’t necessarily mean every aspect of it is legally beyond challenge.
I genuinely believe this deserves scrutiny from attorneys experienced in independent contractor law and collective litigation.
So I’m asking other Flex drivers:
Are you experiencing the same thing? What’s the most ridiculous route you’ve received relative to the compensation? How many unpaid miles are you driving just to get home?
And most importantly, would you support drivers consulting a class-action attorney to determine whether there’s a legitimate legal case against Amazon over these practices?
Because at some point, we need to ask ourselves:
Are we actually making money delivering Amazon’s packages, or are we slowly destroying our personal vehicles so Amazon can save money operating theirs?

Thought I had a missing package. Wasted at least 15 minutes. 🤦‍♂️

In the low dusk light, I did not see this blue shirt despite searching over and over because its color blended into the IKEA bag I use for grouping packages, and it had sunk to the bottom of the bag under other packages.

Contacted support to report it missing. Only many stops later and miles away, it revealed itself and I reattempted the delivery.

31 stops 37 packages 2.5hrs

Seemed like a bit much to me. Looks more like a 3 or even 3.5hr route imo. Luckily it was in the same town as the station but I won’t do a 2.5 for less than $90 after that one. Amazon was paying $87.50 in my market for those 2.5s and started lowering the pay as I expected. I don’t know why they can’t leave a good thing alone. Such a shame.

Interesting 1st Day

I hope its not always like this! My fiance (ex fiance? Idk) used to do Flex. And I never heard of a route like this. $80/ 3.5 hr route

Dispatched from Amazon with 8 packages. Hmmm weird but ok. Dude said they had a bad day today, something major happened (im not sure what but almost got the impression someone died or something) ... i will say everyone at pickup station was kind and super helpful...and i let them know how grateful I was for their kindness. Im struggling right now just to function.

Anyhow.. . 1st stop is 35 mins away in the next town, rural area....cool. thats what I expected based on fiances tales.

1st stop is gated, rural with a note to beware of dog but deliver to door. Um yeah no. I dont do dogs. Especially if I am intruding in their yard and being told to beware of them. No, thank you. Left at gate. Next stop...5 packages...40 min drive out to even more rural area, all left at gate again because dog warning.

Next stop....not too bad except theres 2 houses on 1 property. Property photo shows one house. And delivery pin was at the other house. and i couldn't tell where it really belonged but I think I got it.

Anyway...Next stop another 40 min drive even further out in the stix. By the time I dropped my last package it was 445 (inside the shift time)....but with being so far out and traffic, it took my 2 hours to get back home. Yikes!!! I literally spent thirty dollars in gas for today.

Weird stuff happened today.

I went to pick up a three-hour block today and everything was going fine at the station, but it took the Amazon workers forever to get me out to deliver. It was about 20 minutes past when I was supposed to start; apparently, they had a bunch of new people start recently. Then I was on the road and got on the highway, and it was at a dead stop due to a wreck. Once I got past that, it was fine until the app glitched and the GPS stopped working for three deliveries. Then, out of the blue, it said I was done. Mind you, I had 17 stops and it said I was finished at stop 10, but I had 11 more packages left to deliver. I called support and they said the packages were not assigned to me, even though they were literally in the itinerary when I was at the station. I just wanted to make sure my standing is not affected by this glitch. Then, on the way home, the app tried to make me go back to the station to pick up four more packages, so I called support again to have them removed. It was a crazy day and I just wanted to rant, but the easy block got done super early anyway.

Guy thinks it’s BK and he can have it his way. Only makes sense because it sounds like he’s wearing a BK crown.

And of course it’s an apartment complex with key fob entry.

To the mail room it’s going!

Stop getting scammed by this company!!

Lately I’ve been seeing some LOW paying blocks that I refuse to accept. Trust, I could use the money! It’s just insane that they want to offer a 4hr shift for $84, when I’ve worked a $100 4hr like last week. Stop accepting a shift because it just popped up. If the pay is $20/hr keep refreshing till it amounts to more. Amazon warehouses don’t even pay that low in regards to national median Amazon wages!!!

Empty package

I am on the deliver everything band wagon; in almost 4 years I think I’ve returned 4 maybe 5 packages out of 10,000 deliveries. However lastnight was a first. I pulled up at the stop grabbed the envelope proceed to walk to the door and was like wow this is light what is it paper? Looked down and the envelope was open by this time I’m at the door and on the persons ring camera at first I was like not my problem and sat it down as I was going to take the photo I was like nope I can do this. I can not deliver an empty package, I will get blamed for stealing. So I picked the package back up called support and told them. Support marked it as missing. I then knocked on the customers door and explained to her why her package wasn’t delivered I showed her the envelop and I said please tell me it wasn’t anything expensive she laughed and said no it was drain cleaner. She asked if she should do anything and I told her I don’t really know this is a first for me but Flex drivers are expendable so it’s going to fall back on me; I got in my car and finished my route, but towards the end of my route it asked if I wanted to retry I said No the item was still missing. I wasn’t prompted to return it to the station so I came home. After thinking about it I got up this morning drove back to the station found a worker and asked them if I’m supposed to return the empty envelop and they said yes. So I did. I also emailed support and explained everything. I’m afraid I’m going to get blamed for stealing DRAIN CLEANER and be deactivated. I’m at fantastic but if they try and say I stole it that’s automatic deactivation. Is there anything else at this point I can do?

Sub-Same-Day Anybody take Amazon Now/30-minute deliveries?

I'm a reporter with Business Insider covering delivery. I've written about what it's like to work for Uber Eats, DoorDash, Walmart Spark, and similar services. I'm really curious about what taking these 30-minute/Amazon Now deliveries are like, though.

Do they pay better than other blocks you can take? How far do you have to travel to deliver them?

If you have a little time to chat, I'm at [abitter@businessinsider.com](mailto:abitter@businessinsider.com) or on Signal/text at 808-854-4501.

Got Ding for no reason

My standing went from Fantastic to At Risk due to couple blocks that I did not pickup. The weird thing is that the block from August 23th, 2026 was already resolved at the case closed about 2 months ago. I aware of October 18th block did not pickup due to traffic and i explained to them about the reason. However, i called support to explain why the block from August 23 shows up on my standing for no reason and they said they ohhhh the original decision has made that you were not picked up the packages. I was like I had that resolved back then due to I was having a headaches. How that even possible when the case already closed and they reopened it again and show up on your standing like that? This could lead to deactivated account tho.

VA/MD What are my chances of appealing this?

I usually just lurk but I’m pretty concerned about the email I received earlier today. I started about a month ago after being on the waitlist for months and I want to keep this stream of income. I’ve tried my hardest to improve my standing consistently to buffer for any mishaps in the future but they’re claiming I didn’t deliver/ reported the incorrect reason for delivering. BUT I have never been unable to deliver. I have also never reported that I couldn’t deliver. So far, I have always been able to deliver a package within my block. Even when they send to the middle of nowhere with 49 packages filled with what feels like bricks. I called support to start an appeal but technically I don’t have any proof that I didn’t report these things? If anyone has been through something similar, what are my chances of successfully appealing this?

TLDR; Amazon says I didn’t deliver, but I did. What do I do?

Added stop- Amazon station

I’ve been gone one week and things are different lol. New check in outside parking lot, new 2am routes, and new map. WTH!
Anyways, quick question. After my block today my phone beeped and a message popped up notifying me that I had one last stop . Checked the stop and it was wanting me to go back to the station. Can anyone tell me , what for ? Or why it added the Amazon station as “last stop” after I finished my block. TIA

Amazon flex/hub

• Upvotes

I’m getting frustrated with Amazon Flex/hub because my standing keeps taking hits for missing packages that I never PHYSICALLY RECEIVED in the first place.

Here’s what’s happening: Packages are being marked as assigned to me, but some are missing before I even get them. In one situation, a package was included in a tote that I scanned, but the package itself was never actually there. It appears to have been misplaced by the Amazon DSP driver.
I contacted Amazon Support, explained the situation, and was told the missing package would be removed from my account. However, it’s still showing up, and my standing has already been affected.
Another incident: customer said they didn’t receive their package but I am 100% sure I delivered it to the right address but guess what on their delivery instructions they don’t have an option for photo dropoff so it’s my words vs theirs

Courtesy Payment for Distance

Forgot to screenshot it but just now went to pick up an SSD route. First, it was finding a route for a minute. Then, it offered me a 3.5 hour and I declined because it was only $8 extra and I try to keep each hour at $30 or at least over $25.

Then it thought for about five more minutes before giving me a route and they gave me a courtesy pay bump of $7 for “distance” - which I’ve never seen before and honestly I’ve had several routes recently which absolutely SHOULD have gotten that.

Then I put 2 and 2 together… yall suspect same as I do?
