It’s come to my attention that reports about AWDTSG groups, their knockoffs, and individual posts are going through Meta’s review process without the reported content being removed.

If you’ve exhausted Meta’s internal appeals, you may have another option: an appeal to the independent Oversight Board.

Here’s what to do:

1. Check your Support Inbox for Meta’s final decision and whether it offers an Oversight Board appeal.
2. If eligible, copy your Oversight Board Reference ID and follow the instructions to submit your appeal. Explain the specific content you reported and why you believe it violates Meta’s policies.
3. Save your records: the reference ID, appeal confirmation, screenshots, relevant links, and Meta’s responses.

Keep those numbers somewhere safe for now. I’m exploring whether we can compile these appeals to document recurring problems and support a request for broader scrutiny of how Meta handles harmful content in these groups. I haven’t finalized that process yet, so please don’t post your reference numbers or personal information publicly.

The Board selects only a small number of cases, and an eligible appeal does not guarantee review or removal. But preserving these records gives us something concrete to work with.

Normally Paolas groups were not prompting oversight board review but the knockoff groups have that option!

I figured it would be useful to have an overview of where things stand.

AWDTSG:

With the main Paola groups paused, this seems like the biggest blow in years to these networks. There are, of course, smaller groups popping up, but they have significantly fewer people in them and are more fragmented. With time, some of them may get bigger, although I think the same pressures that caused Paola to pause her groups will also affect the copycat groups. Does anyone know if comments are enabled in the paused groups or is everything paused including comments and new posts?

Tea App:

This one is more of a mystery to me. It can be accessed via web app and on the Google Play Store. Depending on age and demographic, Android phones aren't as common as iPhones among younger people in the United States, but they still make up a sizable percentage of the market.

Web apps are more of a hurdle to access, so fewer people would likely use one than if it were available on the App Store. Does anyone have any idea how active Tea is currently?

Solutions:

I also wanted to talk about options going forward to make sure these types of groups remain in the past, or at least become niche.

I don't think legislation is likely to be passed because freedom of speech in the United States is very broad, and Section 230 protects many social media companies. Those large corporations also lobby politicians heavily. Politicians don't want to be seen as acting "against women" either, even if these groups are mainly gossip networks with some safety benefit.

I think the best possible approach would be to encourage dating apps to notify users of or block screenshots within the app. This would make the effort required to post a guy's photos too much for the majority of people using dating apps and would deal a major blow to these networks.

Hinge already does this in some countries, so it seems like something that could be implemented more broadly. There might even be a profit motive, since there are potentially paying customers who no longer use dating apps due to the existence of AWDTSG and similar groups.

Another option would be lobbying social media companies like Facebook to remove the groups and their copycats. Currently, they seem fairly hands-off, but that may change.

If you haven't heard, the Tea Dating Advice app is now available in Canada. Not here to hate on anyone. I get why women want to feel safe dating, honestly that's fair. But here in Canada we've got a privacy law called PIPEDA, and businesses have to follow it. Under PIPEDA, a company generally needs your consent to collect and share your personal info, and you've got the right to see what they have on you. There are some pretty real questions about whether Tea is playing by those rules up here. Also worth knowing: Canada's sex offender registry isn't public, and criminal record checks normally need the person's consent. Big difference from the States.

And Tea had some rough data breaches in 2025 that leaked thousands of users' selfies and government IDs, so this isn't just about us. The women using it deserve better too.

No Canadian politician, legal, etc has ruled on any of this yet. So here's how we can help push it along, the right way.

Why bother?

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) looks into complaints. The more of us who file real, honest ones, the clearer it is that this is affecting a lot of Canadians, and the more likely they are to actually investigate. That can lead to official findings, forced changes, even court orders. It's a slow process, but it's how this stuff actually gets fixed.

Step 1: Shoot Tea an email first

The OPC recommends you reach out to the company before filing. You can find Tea's privacy contact in their privacy policy (but currently it's listed as [support@teaforwomen.com](mailto:support@teaforwomen.com)).

Keep it short and polite. Something like this, but put it in your own words:

Dear Privacy Officer,

I live in [province], Canada. I'm concerned that the Tea app may not meet the requirements of Canada's privacy law, PIPEDA. Men are posted about, rated and searched without their consent, and non-users have no way to find out what's held about them or request removal.

Could you please explain Tea's legal basis under PIPEDA for collecting and sharing personal information about Canadians without their consent, and what process non-users can follow to access or remove their information?

I'd appreciate a response within 30 business days.

If you think you might be on there, you can also ask Tea straight up whether they have any info on you. That's your right under PIPEDA, and they've got 30 days to answer.

• Save whatever they send back.

No reply, or a reply that doesn't really answer anything? On to Step 4.

Let's keep it respectful and do this the right way, that's what actually gets taken seriously. We have a lot more laws up here that Tea is breaching and have a lot more legal ground to stand on than our American brothers so let's use them.

Wanted to know if we still should be, does the pause mean it’s not necessary?

Everyone who participates in this sub/cause has to remember that there are groups and individuals out there who legitimately see us as a women’s hate group. This is an example of this. This user admitted to brigading reports on our admin, which were ultimately futile because.. well.. we aren’t a hate group.

I don’t want anyone going and harassing these users, or the sub, but I do want people to keep in mind that we are targeted under false pretenses.

Not gonna link the specific post but the guy described his date admitting to going into his workplace the day before their first ever date or meeting in person with her friend to secretly observe him and how he interacted with customers to “make sure he wasn’t putting on a facade” or “being fake.”

The responses are largely in support of what she did and using the same “women need to be careful and check guys out” because a guy in a public place with witnesses, cameras, and other bystanders who will step in if she screams or makes a scene is such a danger.

If a guy did this they would be screaming to call the police, report him to the dating app or get a protection order.

I’m so fucking sick of this world.

I don’t believe for a second these groups are done - if anything they’re trying to lie low and let the heat dissipate and give men the false sense of security they’re gone so their posters can go back to anonymous shaming, doxxing and exposing of all the men who make dating app profiles or try to date someone in their area.

Why are they adding hundreds of new members per week to groups that are “closing down”?

Are they still paused? If we were to follow Paola Sanchez's prior antics is there a pattern we should expect? Ie, will the groups unpause in X number of days? We know she claimed they will be deleted but some of us don't believe that.

Luckily I free up in about 9 days. I'm going on the hunt for the holy grail of any and all evidence I can collect since I know I've been posted in the past and I am going to file multiple lawsuits.
