Every Wednesday, give us 5 hip-hop songs you think everyone should hear.
Whether you're introducing someone to 90s East Coast rap, Southern hip-hop, West Coast classics, underground gems, or overlooked artists, put together your personal 5-track starter pack. Can be well known songs as well.
New to 90s hip-hop? This thread is your guide. Drop your 5 songs in a comment and upvote the recommendations you think are most helpful.
⭐ The comment that receives more than 10 upvotes will have its 5 songs added to our community list.
Before commenting, make sure to see what's already been recommended so we can keep the list diverse and avoid repeating the same songs.
Thanks for participating! Be sure to upvote the recommendations you think deserve recognition, and check back next Wednesday to see what gets added.
🚫 DO NOT LINK PLAYLISTS AS COMMENTS. Please list the 5 songs directly in your comment.

💬Discussion Today I bumped Gangstarr - Daily Operation (1992) another damn near flawless album from them,Guru’s rhymes and Premier’s instrumentals just mesh perfect again & this aged well and treat to listen to today for sure! Soliloquy of chaos stood out & the singles! 4.5 mics from me…what’s your thoughts?

With everyone doing it i figured id share my list. Definitely different from most people on this rap page.
I was only going to do 1 artist but for some reason above the rim sound track didnt come up. I would post that over mac dre young black brotha. I probably like young black brotha better then the rompilation (but its extremely close) but the rompalation was more formative for me. I probably should have put shorty the pimp over short dogs in the house but short dogs in the house is my favorite short album

I posted a 'My9' last night and I was questioned about why I didn't have any albums from the second half of the 90's.
Here are 9 gems from the later 90's.
