Picked it up pretty cheap. I know Taurus autos have a pretty crappy reputation but so far it’s been reliable. The worst thing I can say it’s got kind of a heavy trigger.

It's a double stack 14+1 45acp. I was only able to find the 5". The 4.25 Black Ops Recon is really hard to find. They don't make these anymore after Remington went under. I'm going to need to update some parts internally since a lot of them are MIM. Trying to track down a flat trigger is also a challenge in itself.

Chestnut color rough-out cows leather with kangaroo hide around the opening (it’s much thinner). He said he’s never done a holster in this color combo - so I had to be the first to get it done.
I was nervous to see how it looks - it came out amazing! Much better than the $30 Amazon holster I’ve been using in the meantime 😂

My first 1911, and my first idiot scratch. I guess it’s not that bad; can’t really see it unless the light hits it. Glad that I have this to learn on before I spend the coin on something fancy pants. The gun is great; especially for $300.

Hello all,
I bought a tisas 1911 when they were on sale for dirt cheap a few months back. After shooting it a few times I decided to get the value line spring kit, sear, and hammer from Wilson combat. Is this something an amateur could install? I've never gunsmithed before, aside from cleaning and polishing rifles and shotguns, but I have a lot of mechanical knowledge (auto mechanic, welder, maintenance tech in a steel mill) or is it something I should let a professional handle? Thanks for the help!

So I wanted to not only build a 1911 from a new slide and frame, but also make is a host for a Suppressor.
With that in mind I ordered a Springfield Silent Operator Slide from US Collectors Ordnance. And a Tisas Regent Frame from Centerfire Systems.
I want to say right off the bat that I'm 50/50 elated and disappointed that the slide and frame go right together with no fitting. There's actually a tiny bit of wiggle to the fit but it's nothing I'm too concerned about.
Plans:
-Not Giving Wilson Combat all my money for small parts this time.
-25LPI Checker the front Strap using lessons learned with the Mil-Spec
-Have the slide AOS Cut
-after fitting and blending everything have the slide and frame both Black Nitrided before permanently installing the ejector and plunger tube.
Does anyone have a good place for the AOS Slide milling service? I was gonna have C&H do it plus the nitride but I've since read reviews. Also I need to find a service to nitride the frame.

Tisas 1911 Night Stalker comp chambered in 9mm (I know, roast me). My first 1911; excited to try it out this weekend at the range. Already got familiar with disassembly, and it's definitely a learning curve over my striker fired guns. Most annoying part is definitely lining up the barrel link, but all things considered not bad. Any tips and tricks? I saw people recommend Wilson combat springs so I'd probably do that at some point.

Does anyone recognize this sight cut? It looks like a 70's k-frame cut in front, but something else in the rear. The little peg in the rear confuses me, too. Looks like some kind of indexing pin. Maybe an old Clark rail setup? It's driving me a little nuts trying to figure it out.

Anyone else have issues with their grip safety digging into their hand? Seems like newer ones have this bump and hit my hand in the wrong way. This is after 200 rounds.
Maybe I just need to toughen up my hands.

I'm in the market to purchase my first 1911 and wanted to get some opinions. Research has showed me TRP's are solid, Wilson Combat & Alchemy Custom is upper echelon and prices vary. I'd like to purchase one that I can enjoy, be proud of, made in the USA, .45 caliber and eventually pass down to my children. Budget is preferably under $5K. Any insight is appreciated and thanks for reading.

I already own a 9mm 1911 and I really like it. Shoots well, eats all types of ammos with mecgar magazines and the trigger is just uncomparable to any striker fired handgun I have tried. Now, I'm eyeing my next purchase and have been contemplating in getting another 1911 in 45 or a Glock (or any striker fired for that matter). Is a 45 1911 worth getting? How big is the difference between a 9mm and 45? Help me decide.
