Cost of living has skyrocketed basically everywhere and videogames are becoming more and more a luxury , if this game leads the rest of the triple A industry into thinking $80-100 is the new normal price tag we could be looking at another crash.

Very possible, current gaming budgets are just becoming increasingly ridiculous.

It's the element of control these companies are attempting to get on consoles, I find concerning.

If every developer and publisher go digital only with console games the secondary physical market dies and these games will be 70+ dollars functionally forever; similar to how Nintendo has been for decades.

Consistent sales on Steam and Good Old Games are what makes digital only for PC viable economically. Publishers will NOT do this.

Making console gaming worse will only shrink that market further. This may actually be the goal to have all gaming be phone only gibberish at some point.

Greater control only benefits these companies. Gaming gets worse and more costly.

IMO It is precisely because gaming become a luxury. they need to compensate from the shrinking market size, so they'll squeeze out the remaining one more (the one that can still afford gaming as secondary need instead of luxury).

Gaming companies are replacing half their workforce with AI unfortunately. They already done the calculations, the mega corps in gaming outside Nintendo have already lowered their costs of doing business by using AI. Unfortunately I don’t think this industry crash happens.
