That high blood pressure could explain the irritability he was having too. My husband had untreated high blood pressure for a while and I noticed when we got it under control his fuse stopped being so short. He definitely needs to be seen soon.

Mundane first - get him checked out at an ER or urgent care. Could be a panic attack, could be something else. Better safe than sorry.
As for your spell, you probably effected the energy between y'all, which was good, but it could have also masked whatever actual physical ailments he was dealing with. Anger and irritability sometimes come with health issues. A general check up with or without an emergency trip tonight might still be a good idea.
