My Roomate heard about a batch of kittens that were recently dumped on a farm and we offered to take one in. She is super sweet and playful and we have fallen completely in love. Would love some name suggestions, especially something plant themed! 🌿❤️

Edit: thank you for all the suggestions, you guys are so nice! We decided to name her Maple 🍁

The plan is for me to have her once she’s old enough to fly as we are long distance.

We are trying to see if she will bond with my partner’s cat since we are planning on moving in together by the end of this year.

They said I could name her so I named her Maisie (short for Maisilee)

Smol Tortie Are most torties petite?

This is my Luna bug. She’s almost 14 now. But she’s always been a tiny girl. Compared to a lot of other cats I’ve had or met, she’s much smaller. She’s got a small head, little toe beans, and a stubby tail (though she’s always had a saggier belly. She’s shaped like a pear lol). She’s never been the cat who jumped up onto the counters or tables, and I feel like it’s because of her stature haha. Now that she’s aging and has arthritis, she can’t even jump up onto my bed that’s just knee height without having to climb up 🥲 So I got her some stairs and she uses them every day!

Show me your little torties!!

*edit: I forgot to add that she’s been chunky most of her life. So her stature is petite, but her belly is not 🤣 I’ve got her to lose some weight this past year. Sitting at 10 pounds. But I swear if she didn’t have a sack of potatoes for a torso she’d be at 6. Still a stumpy little girl though.

This is Pumpkin and her kittens Coco, Tiki, Cali, Bear, and Medusa.

I live in an area with a huge feral cat population. This precious girl showed up early last spring and I fed her pretty regularly for a while, but over the winter I only saw her once.

She reappeared this spring with a BB gun wound and full term pregnancy. She was very skittish at first, I’m afraid she had a pretty rough winter. After debating what to do I decided to take her in so she could have her kittens in a safe warm environment.

Smol Tortie This little girl yelled for a day and a half until I extracted her from the undercarriage of a neighbor's car. The moment she darted out from behind a tire and screamed at me I was done for.

The vet thinks she's about five weeks old and she weighs 1.19 lbs, so smol she can fit in the palm of my hand. My husband and I tried to catch her for hours Thursday night and then camped out in the front yard all morning Friday attempting to lure her out. I knew how tiny she was from the glimpses I'd gotten of her the night before but not much else, so when I finally saw her? I was floored. We've had to say goodbye to three kitties over the past two years. I miss them all terribly, but our tortie Penny left the biggest hole in my heart. She was the clingiest, judgiest, most ridiculous cat I've ever met in my life, and losing her was absolutely devastating. I can't believe the universe gifted us this little tortie bean (and right before the two year anniversary of Penny's passing, no less).

I'm still not sure what to name her so I'd love any suggestions y'all might have. The other girls we've had are Abigail, who passed in February, and Lucy, who is asleep on my lap as I type this.

This is Tia... Short for Tortilla. She's a foster kitten right now but my mom is most likely gonna keep her, and if she doesn't... I will 😁

Smol Tortie Someone dumped this girl, heartbreaking.

No chip, has a collar indent. Found her on a midnight hike last night at a known dump location for cats. We decided to adopt her and name her Worm (because she wiggles).

I am a licenced vet so thankfully I was able to get her taken care of asap. No fleas, was a bit dirty but thankfully nothing negative health wise. She is extremely chatty and clingy like most Torties, so my assumption is she got dumped because someone couldn't handle the meowing or constant need to be all over someone. Still, not okay. I am lucky to have her appear in my life though, she has a permanent home with us!

Smol Tortie The cat distribution system bestowed a tortie upon me 🥺

While on our evening walk early last week, my recently rescued puppy found a cat under a parked car, and instantly befriended her. She followed us home, purring the whole way, and seemed to take up residence on my porch. She was pretty skinny so while I tried to find her rightful owner, I figured she could at least benefit from regular feedings. I got no response from any of the local FB posts I've made about her, she was scanned for a chip and doesn't have one, and I've been putting a breakaway collar on her at night with a "is this your cat??" note on it and my phone number. She has an appointment at the vet to be spayed next week, and I'm doing my best to make sure someone isn't missing her in the meantime. At first I thought she had a tipped ear, but it's not, the tip of it is just folded back a little bit, possibly from an injury. She gets along great with my dog and my 12 year old daughter. I don't like the idea of this sweet girl being outdoors in a busy neighborhood, so if I don't hear back from someone this week, she's moving in with us 😁 My daughter has named her Willow, and she loves taking naps in our laps and making biscuits. I've seen many cats in/around the neighborhood since we moved in, but she's the first one to want anything to do with us, and the first tortie I've ever seen here! The vet will be doing some imaging to make sure this isn't a trojan cat situation, but even if that's the case we're on board to get any kittens vetted and adopted out as well.

Smol Tortie Update on tortie who detects low blood sugar and yells about it

Post image
10k Upvotes

About a year ago I made this post about my girl Peanut who takes serious offense to my blood sugar issues.

I’m happy to say that after a life changing medical procedure and several months of recovery, my blood sugar is finally consistent and peanut is SO much happier! It’s amazing to me that she stayed by my side throughout the entire process, never once failing to alert me/my family of low blood sugar despite never being taught how to.

Her obsessive need to be on/near me 24/7 has finally eased up, but I still feel awful knowing how concerned she must have been to feel the need to monitor me all the time :( it’s so great to see her relaxing and spending time by herself again though! We still hang out and snuggle on a daily basis, but she isn’t frantic about it anymore and is happy to do her own thing when I need alone time.

Even though my blood sugar is mostly consistent now, there are still times when I accidentally wait too long to eat and she reminds me by screaming outside my door or hitting me repeatedly with the top of her little head :,)

I love this strange lady. I think she saved me in a lot of ways. I hope she knows how grateful I am for everything she does, I tell her all the time whether she understands it or not.
