I used to think that too, but the last time I stayed at an airbnb with a big group, one of the people got way too drunk and did some damage to the place and it got really ugly in the aftermath. I would say only do this if you're confident something like that won't happen, but so was I when I agreed to stay there.

I mean, that can happen with a hotel too. It’s why I never agreed to be the credit card holder back in my early 20s because you never knew who would suddenly decide to act like a dumb shit on drugs or alcohol. I saw so many people have their first credit cards maxxed out after hotel parties. In my 40s at least I know who I can trust to invite to an Airbnb and pay for damages if they fuck shit up.

Yeah this wasn't that kind of scene. I was in my late 30s when this happened and it wasn't a house party. Just like a dozen old friends from college getting together for a weekend in the city where we went to school. We weren't crazy party people in school and when this happened most of us were already dads with families and careers and shit. One of us just clearly had a drinking problem that the rest of us weren't aware of. But there's also a lot less stuff to break in a hotel room. Like, you're probably not punching a hole through a hollow core door in a hotel because most of those doors are solid or metal.
