I didn’t mind doing the dishes. But I always thought it was incredibly gross to rely on strangers who had no interest in it doing them.

100% I have always had to rerun the dishwasher. Never trusted the previous guests cleaning abilities

You should see my MIL do dishes at my house. If it looks clean it goes back in the cabinet. "Clean" it's very much her opinion even when soap gets involved.

Are you me? My MIL has to live with us and she is not allowed to wash dishes. She will rinse it under cold water... no soap or sponge. She will stack plates and then not clean the underside and then stack them again so the food transfers back.

The worst was getting cutlery out of the drawer that had dried food on it.

Nope, I told my wife I'd divorce her if MIL moves in. Oh yes, we have all the same problems. She just puts my cast iron back in the cabinet without cleaning. Water glasses don't need to be cleaned. Plus she's a schizophrenic, so there is a global conspiracy to make her look crazy...

I may end up divorced due to her.

She is a hoarder who has destroyed 2 other homes.

This.

When you realise you too will do an average cleaning job.

I don't understand how grown adults just don't get this.
