What are they so afraid of? People not liking content? Oh noes!

For such a large company, you would think they would have developed a thicker commerical skin, seems not the case. I find it amusing that a company that big, is so afraid of something so small as a dislike button. Seems even the largest of titans is afraid of something, that being a choice.

Netflix used to rule the roost on streaming, now they are losing subscribers faster than they can keep them. Youtube wants people to create content, but is afraid of people expressing their opinions on posted content, thats pretty sad actually. They dont rule anything either, they are just a stop gap til something better comes along essentially, like all things, there is always someone bigger waiting to take their place.

Have to look at it from the point of view of a platform that's being smothered by an avalanche of bots:

  • A single bot account can upvote a single piece of content that it's promoting.
  • The same single bot account, can down-vote thousands upon thousands of competing content.

If you are to decide which content is better than other based on "1 upvote + 1000 downvotes", you might want to drop all the downvotes sinply to reduce computing resource use.

Detecting bots based on single upvetes vs. thousands of downvoted, is also less resource-intensive.

That seems like a bot problem

Look at it from the point of a user.

I don't want to use a platform where bots decide my content either way.

I quit Facebook when it started hiding peoplei knew and posing bullshit and never used the other shit.

I barely use YouTube because it's always shit.

I'll drop Reddit when they get shitty enough but for now there's enough ad blockers

My guess is the pressure comes from big money. Like corporations or a small group of the largest influencers who dislike having a dislike button. Nothing else makes sense to me with a quick think.

Well if the content gets a dislike, there is usually a reason, again, what are they so afraid of here, they are not that fragile surely, blimey corporate egos do need inflating dont they!

The amount of Ai stuff appearing so rapidly is also a suprise, some of its good, some of it isnt, but its evolving very quickly, but is it real content?

It's part of the plan guys.

They are trying to push censorship one day at a time. The end of freedom of speech.

Good odds it’s about not having AI downvoted. Not after investing so much in data centers.
