I think you're underestimating investor panic, especially when a lot of companies are staking their future profits to how much they think AI will help them cut labor costs.

They are also underestimating the current macroeconomic forces that would have cause a recession but for the A.I. boom.

Those companies are idiots for not staking their future expenses on the massive cost per token that they’ll be charged as soon as the smoke clears and there’s one clear winner.

I realise calling companies idiots is redundant but hey. Gotta get those tulip bulbs lmao

The older you get, the more you realize everyone making important decisions in the world is a complete self-assured moron, a sociopath, or both. There are a lot of smart, good-hearted people in the middle trying their damnedest to steer things in a positive direction, but our institutions more often than not filter these voices out when selecting for the few at the top.

Our economy is run by idiots, for idiots, and it does not care if you or I consent. I still show up to my job and try to take pride in it, but I have zero respect for people who still buy into hustle culture or meritocracy propaganda.

Damn straight. And it seems even the good-hearted people will eventually bow under pressure and give the morons and sociopaths what they ask for because the media is exclusively in the service of the Almighty Market.

Like, nobody ever questions WHY government debt is “bad” but giving tens of billions of dollars worth of company stock in service of debt is “good”. It’s just taken for granted, usually with a “Hurr durr interest” as if the governments that can print an infinite amount of money will run out.

(The correct answer, before anyone has conniptions, is always “What is the debt paying for?” before making a value judgement.)
