A big part of the problem is that they are not really a part of this society at all. They spend their time in gated mansions, private jets, private islands, with armed guards and whatever else. If they had to be even a bit more aligned with regular society, I'm sure some empathy paths would slowly wake up in their brains at least a little bit. Problem is they live a completely detached life and never have to interact with normal people in normal places.

You know, I'd be happy to let them live in their little world if they stopped trying to fuck with mine. Nothing ever being enough for them precludes such an arrangement, though.
