Happy 10 Year "Gotcha Day" Mishka!

It's my little floof-monster's 10 year "gotcha day"!

My boyfriend and I adopted Mishka when she was about 6 months old, from an elderly couple who couldn't keep her. (Last pic is her tiny self when we first brought her home!)

And though ten years have passed, and the joints have some arthritis, she's still my wild child "forever puppy". My little monster.

She has so much personality (and attitude lol). Always ready to play and cause mischief!

Her lifelong companion, our sweet Mollie, just crossed the rainbow bridge 5 weeks ago. It's been extremely devastating for us, and Mishka has been missing her friend, so we wanted to make today extra special for her. ❤️

Extra walks. A pup cup. Special treats. And new toys. 😊

And hoping for many more years with our little Mish!

Question Overweight Pom?

Hi everyone! I have a throwback pom named Gardenia and I love her so very much. Now here’s the problem, I think she’s overweight but I can’t deduce if the reasons why I think they are, are actually true or not. Basically we let our dogs graze over the day, none of them have a problem with overeating and I haven’t noticed her having a problem with over eating either. She isn’t lethargic either and plays a lot with her siblings including my sister’s Keeshond that she gets really rough with (they love it, he’s a big boy which is why they get rough lol). Admittedly I don’t take her on walks as much as I’d like, I wasn’t able to get her a new harness for a few months because I couldn’t get to the damned pet store and I didn’t trust buying one online because I couldn’t properly gauge whether it’d fit her or not. I do plan on taking her on walks more often now that I have a harness though!

Anyway, I genuinely cannot deduce how overweight she is, it’s not affecting her health so far and the last time we took her to the vet they said she was fine, and she is a throwback so she’s bound to be a bit bigger, but I still think she’s a little overweight so I’m just curious to know if anyone has any recommendations for habit changes?

Hi everyone. I just realized there would be a subreddit for other sufferers of Stockholm’s syndrome of the Pomeranian. It really cheered me up. Here is Rory; she loves cuddles, playing rough & Duck Jerky. For the love of god don’t say Jerky in my house.

Got super lucky and found him the most PERFECT harness at the pet store. It was one of the last harnesses they had left, and coincidentally it had his name on it 🥺🥺

Question Coat colour change question?

Post image
61 Upvotes

We recently got a brother and sister pair of puppies, the boy's face is the same colour as his coat, the girl (face visible in pic) has a black muzzle. We were told she'll probably lose the black face and be all one colour as she gets older, anyone know if this is true? I don't care either way in the end because she's lovely but I'm very curious! Also wondering if anyone knows what coat colour they'll end up when grown as I know generally they change. Their mother was orange if that makes a difference.

Question Why Is Everyone So Obsessed With How Much Their Pom Weighs

This sub has been taken over by posts asking “Is My Dog Fat” and I really wish the mods would ban the subject. If you don’t know the most basic question about your dog maybe you shouldn’t have a dog.

Recently, someone asked if their puppy was too fat! Are you serious? Human babies and animals are allowed to be chubby. They run it off. They need it for growth. Fat is needed for the development of the internal organs of mammals.

With all the news about animals being neglected and abandoned on this earth, the last thing I wanna read is people finding an excuse to starve a dog who is just a few months old. I’m getting to the point where I hate this sub. It used to be so much fun to come on here.

Pom Pic Meet Toxi

Post image

This is my baby boy Toxi, he’s 3 years old! But i’m currently having trouble with him and his temperament. He has some guarding issues when he’s stressed, uncomfortable, anxious. Which isn’t all the time but yes he’s bit my sister before and drew blood. So i’m hoping for some tips and maybe words of encouragement.. I love him to death but i’m scared that one day he might lash out on the wrong person. 🥲

hypoglycemia help 🥺❤️

• Upvotes

Hi,
Just reaching out for some advice! I have had my 6 month old Pomeranian for a lil over 2 weeks. His name is Bramble. On Monday around 5-6pm Bram showed signs of low sugar.
He felt limp in my arms, eyes looked glossy and he could not stay still when he was standing on his own. Swaying back and fourth. We gave him his enercal gel on his gums and honey right away. He also ate and drank. Within a hour to two he was back to his normal puppy self running and playing. I thought it was a one time thing (I was out of town Friday to Monday afternoon and my partner woke up later to give him his normal food routine on Monday)
Since, we have been keeping a close eye on him. He was fine yesterday but today he had another episode. He ate his breakfast on time this morning, had treats from a treat puzzle he loves and also a lick mat and was by my side as I work from home.

During these 2 episodes both times he got the zoomies and still wants to run around but when he stands still physically cannot stop swaying and his back leg starts to give out.

I had a throwback Pomeranian for 15 years and my partner had a toy Pom for 13 years and we never experienced this before.

We are taking him for full bloodwork panel but just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this before and any tips throughout the day that could help him to keep the sugar up?? If it’s even that. We love him so much already and just want him to be okay.
