Try Nixon

The words "at least since" were chosen because they allow for this expansion, but I don't know if Nixon was intentional on behalf of the party at large, just might have been the catalyst to set them on the path.

Watergate is the catalyst for why Fox News started. Roger Ailes was one of Nixon's advisors, went on to start Fox News with Rupert Murdoch, because they wanted a conservative network that would prevent a president from being taken down due to bad press coverage (like Nixon got over Watergate). It's a pretty well documented catalyst. There are also people like Roger Stone who served Nixon during Watergate that went on to work with Reagan and then Trump. Absolutely a continuous throughline there.

Right, yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I left it kind of open to allow the expansion to Nixon but I don't think Nixon was an intentional move, I think the whole plan started coming into place after him.

Reagan and both Bush regimes were all full of Nixon’s inner circle.

It was for sure the catalyst. Roger ailes went out to make a media atmosphere so that way there could NEVER be a possibility that Republican senators would feel compelled to ask a Republican president to step down without a Senate trial.

And then the Pardon sealed the fucking deal

Are you implying Nixon was far right?
