I know this is a longshot…but if there are enough Republican senators at jeopardy of losing their seats in 2028 they could side with the Dems to remove him. Nixon was going to be forced out by his own party. Of course Nixon didn’t have the power of Fox News then and the parties have definitely become more die hard team sport oriented

Senate rules allow for secret votes. If they do that for the impeachment trial they'll get 80 of them.

They also can just not show up or not vote. It's a requirement for 2/3 majority of votes for conviction, not senators, as far as I can tell.

This is what I've been saying. I'm not saying I'm making a prediction that this will happen or anything, but I think it's entirely possible that there are a couple of disgruntled old school Republicans that are ready to start stabbing some backs.
