I hope the license is resold to talented people. Like Owlcat or Larian. But EA is probably going to sit on it forever.

My bet is we don’t see another new Dragon Age or Mass Effect game as long as EA is under its current management.

Amazon is working on a Mass Effect show. If that show is a hit it would bring new interest to the franchise and I would expect another Mass Effect game. If that show is a dud then the IP could die or be put on hold for some time.

I think so too. There may be some sort of new Mass Effect at some point.

Dragon Age though, is dead in my opinion.

I feel like I've been hearing about that show for as long as I've been hearing about the next ME game and details are equally sketchy. And now it's not clear if they would even have access to anybody to advise on anything about the ME universe. I'd be surprised if that show gets made and doubly surprised if it's any good.

Microsoft: Wow, this Fall Out show sure is a hit. How could we capitalize on that?

Todd Howard: oh jeez, we just released Starfield to great success. What more do you want?

Microsoft: uh, "great job" [rubs bridge of nose], but was thinking something fall out related? Like another game

Todd: We put a character in Fall out 76

Microsoft: Yea, but like to really give the audience something big that we could monetize. Like another Fallout game?

Todd: well, we're going to re-release Fall out 4 and break a bunch of shit

Microsoft: I feel we're not on the same page about capturing this demand.

Todd: We're going to release a new Elder Scrolls in like 6 years ... or whatever... and then after that, we'll focus on Fallout again.

Microsoft: I feel we're not aligned on urgency and time lines.

Todd: Only 1 fallout game and 1 elder's scroll per generation, those are the rules

Microsoft: What rules? Who rules?

Todd: welp, need to get back to crunch time on Elder Scrolls

Microsoft: again... we need to talk about timelines Todd. Todd? TODD?!

You'd ve surprised but leveraged buyout means big interest payments that they have to make so anything that doesn't make them money is useless.

Just look at Ultima, EA will literally just sit on the IP so others can't have them.

Garriott claimed Ultima back just this year and it takes effect next year I believe

Yup, he gets the IP back in 2027.

With how much EA owes after the leveraged buyout, they'll sell or the Saudis will force them. Being 20 billion dollars in debt is no joke and there was recent rumors of them defaulting.

Duh, they're gonna sit on it forever. Less competition.

We need to stop with the rehashed IP slop. Studios need to make new and fresh IPs. Nostalgia is not what makes anything good.

Before DA or ME were popular IPs, BioWare took a chance on both of those yo make games that were appealing.

Stop encouraging nostalgia bait and start encouraging risk taking. Something new and awesome is bound to be created if we stopped buying the rehashed slop from old IPs.
