I'd say before or during. That game was a huge step down in quality compared to their previous offerings.

Inquisition was the death twitch after the dagger was buried in its heart.

It was undeniably a step down but if you bothered to sift through the debris there were still veins of gold in it. Cullen battling addiction, Solas as the secret villain, Cassandra, Dorian and Iron Bull as characters, Tresspasser setting up a potential great finale that was never to be.

BioWare spent the last of what it was in Inquisition and it managed to put enough of itself into it to fool plenty of people for a decade longer, I count myself as one of them

Solas is my second most favorite Kreia.

the thing that still gets me is that originally, inquisition ended with a huge nothingburger placeholder ending. trespasser (which i will admit was fucking fantastic) is the literal conclusion to inquisition's story, and should NOT have been a DLC, it should have been a part of the base game. EA, in classic form, shipped the game in an unfinished state and then made us pay for the real ending.

Inquisition was amazing, won GOTY and was their best seller

Yeah this revisionism about DAI is so strange.

You could say the same about DA2.

OK, compared to DA:O or ME1 and 2, sure, but compared to DA2?

DA2 was way more of a mess than Inquisition.

It was more of a mess, but I found that to be more excusable given how incredibly rushed the development was. Despite its flaws, the game had heart and felt like it was telling the genuinely unique and compelling story. Unfortunately I can't say the same about Inquisition despite having a lot more time to cook.

I like Inquisition a lot more, myself. I get what DA2 tried to do, I just think it completely botched it.

That's why I said what was left. Inquisition still had some of the good Bioware dna.
