Preordering makes sense if it allows you to preload. Bandwidth is finite.

Even if it’s not a bandwidth issue preloading lets you play as soon as possible. I’ve done it before but nowadays a new game will sit unplayed for weeks because I just don’t have the time so there’s no point anymore.

Are you a real person? That's utter and total rubbish

Maybe they’re in a 3rd world country, where a lot of things we take for granted is a real issue to them

Or just in the rural US where some places still only have dialup (and if that's been fixed finally, a ton of places have quite low max speeds still)

Or just a rural area that hasn’t been prioritized with fiber or high-speed connectivity

I don't pre-order ever but he has a point. It's annoying to come home from a long day at work, play with the kids, put them down, and then finally boot up your PC for a new game you're excited about and then you have to download it.

Probably not playing it tonight.

Yeah I'm a real person with a fiber internet connection.
And maybe I should have clarified that with games being hundreds of gigabytes in size, the file servers hosting those games are going to get very busy if everyone's accessing them on launch day, which isn't precisely a bandwidth issue but is related to it.

If the goal is to play the game on launch day, why wouldn't you preorder it a few weeks in advance so that it can be ready to play the moment it drops?
