Elements never cut it for me, and I'm using Lightroom for hobby photograpy, have a huge library to which there is a hardly an alternative. That is, there was none until now, which is potentially good
The forced yearly subscription + specific narrow cancellation window + obligation to talk to a rep to cancel really is extortion. Dark patterns stacked on top of each other.
I've been paying 35 bucks a month since COLLEGE for Adobe suite, because if I ever stop paying now, going back will cost me easily like 100 a month. Do I use it a lot? No. But the alternatives feel bleak
I still use photoshop for everyday retouching, capture one instead of Lightroom and Da vinci instead of premiere. Honestly DaVinci does me well for the occasional job but I’m a photographer not a videographer. The lack of afteraffects is a bummer though. If you ever need a free indesign or illustrator clone try out Affinity. I was sceptical as it’s from canva but it’s practically an adobe clone. And works well for the occasional graphic design fix up I need to do. If your thinking of moving from photoshop, try it out, it has a photoshop clone which from what I can tell is very similar from adobe. I wouldn’t switch just because of the amount of work I do and actions I have on photoshop but I was surprised. It is light years better than that trash called Gimp or Krita.

As bad as it may be, for a non-professional, the business model of Adobe is indistinguishable from extortion.
