Winter is Coming Door-to-door salesman steps over the tape blocking off my freshly painted steps

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I spent over 20 hours prepping, sanding, and painting my front steps while the weather is still good before winter, including taking two afternoons off work to get the job done before it's too cold. I just finished the job this afternoon and the paint is still tacky.

There is a long strip of painters tape attached to a paint can very obviously blocking off the stairs when you're facing it.

I have NO Halloween decorations up yet either.

Edit: for everyone saying it's not enough or my tape job is shit, it's like a 45 degree angle across the steps, and it's not a construction zone, it's my house. If you walked up to a piece of tape blocking your path at a residence where you weren't invited, you would probably at least second guess whether you should be proceeding forward. Thankfully, it's mostly dry and there is no need for rework as far as I can tell. That's what makes it mildly infuriating. He COULD have done damage, but it doesn't look like he did.

Edit 2: this is also not a common occurrence. I get MAYBE one knock a month on my door unsolicited. It just unfortunately happened to be the one day I had painted. It wasn't an expected situation. This was a mere just in case measure. Small town Canada.

It may be petty, but I fuckin LOVE shutting my door in their face. Sometimes I do it really slow so they don't really get it at first. They normally start to speed up their pitch when they realize what is happening.

My proudest moment was one caught me coming home with my 1yr old and groceries.

I got him to carry the groceries in and then I shut the door in his face.

Absolutely no regrets.

Found the annoying pushy salesperson.

My community has laws about door to door salespeople. You're upset I shut the door in a criminal's face. Boo frickin' hoo

Never once in all humanity has a salesperson left the first time they're told no thanks.

I said you are the pushy annoying salesperson.

I tossed off a quick thanks bud as I shut the door. I don't make it a habit to be super polite to criminals.

If you could read, I clearly stated in an earlier post solicitation is illegal in my town. They are breaking the law. Granted it's a relatively minor thing in the grand scheme of life.

Your post is borderline nonsense. You need a nap bro?

Bud, lots of places have laws against solicitation. It ain't an odd thing.

And no I don't have to do anything. I'm definitely not doxing myself. Lol.

Sure! I use reddit, have at least one kid, I buy groceries, I live in a town and I've shut the door in at least one salesperson's face.

I had a friend who would open the door eating really obnoxiously and than apologize and spit the food into his hand and throw it to the side than try to shake there hand.

We had a guy doing a pitch for fiber internet and were like, oh we rent this place, we can't make any decisions like that, and he kept going with a "oh yeah, no I totally get that bUT-". And we're like... This is useless we really can't do anything you're trying to sell us, and he KEPT going. And we go, dude you gotta stop we told you we're not interested, and he's STILL GOING. So my partner just closed the door mid sentence. Very satisfying, dude was way too pushy.

When I first bought my house in 2018 there was this door-to-door guy from Comcast who would knock on my door every year to try to get me to switch to Comcast and every time I told him that I would never do business with a company that was voted the worst company in the United States. I told him this a couple of times but then the one time he was so proud to tell me that Comcast was no longer voted the worst company in the United States, they were voted the second worst company in the United States. He was proud of that.
