Is it Dawn Power wash? There’s rubbing alcohol in that I’m fairly certain

Huh? No way. I'm researching. Brb

Edit. No but you're not far off. It has other solvents that aren't in regular Dawn which i didn't know. I thought the power wash gimmick was just the spray bottle part.

It’s denatured alcohol. Says so right on the bottle.

Alcohol is a solvent

Why vaguely say other solvents when you can name the solvent

Because then people would just make it themselves the way I do.

Are you stupid? The bottle says the solvent on it.

Nope! We make our own in our house reused Dawn power wash bottle, 1 part regular Dawn soap, 1 part rubbing alcohol, 3 parts water. Works magnifique! Maybe even better than the of power wash

It’s also why you shouldn’t use their powerwash on animals. Regular Dawn is fine to bathe animals, powerwash isn’t safe.

Isopropanol wouldn't melt through nitrile.

These gloves are made of vinyl

Well it won't melt through Vinyl either.

Nice! Didn't know that one but use both in crafts a lot of the time, and have always just been cautious. Always happy to learn something new!

Rubbing Alcohol is pretty safe to use for cleaning, it's even used for cleaning computer components (though I would ensure it's 99% Alcohol for that, since you don't want water residue on them when they power back up).

It's not recommended for wood furniture, because it can dissolve the finish, or acrylics though.

Just keep in mind with solvents that 'like dissolves like', so it's not about one solvent being 'stronger' than another, but simply what it is most like at the molecular level, so best to just search for what you can and can't clean with it.

Acetone for example can melt some plastics, but it can also cause some things to crash out of solution (meaning it turns back into a solid).

Great explanation actually! Makes sense why rubbing alcohol is used on raw polymer clay but acetone is used on cured polymer clay. We also advise customers to use the isopropyl to clean electronic contacts and stuff like that to eliminate connection issues, a lot of times it ends up being the correct solution 😅
