I say it all the time. You do know the fucking speed limit is XYZ and you’re merging at fucking 20 below etc. Like use the on ramp, get up to speed, blend in with the flow of fucking traffic.

Makes me so angry because if they wanna drive like a pussy on a merge ramp you put every person behind you who now has to merge well below the rate of traffic in danger as well

I think a lot more people need to accept that if they're too scared to drive normally they're too scared to drive at all and just need to resort to uber or whatever

Or at least stay off the highway

My area has feeder roads that are 45mph and run parallel right next to the highways. People who want to go 40mph still get on the highway despite having the same damn route at lower speeds available.

u/Cheesbaby 16d ago

Well yeah, the GPS said it would get me there quicker. I don’t get why everyone has to ride my ass! /s

There are people that will go 55 mph on the highway and when they get onto the feeder road they maintain that speed. They weren't ok with getting up to speed limit on the highway but somehow perfectly ok with speeding over the limit on the feeder road 🤦‍♂️

This is a topic I use to push for more mass transit. Give people who hate driving or are scared of driving any other option and the roads will be safer.

People’s inability to properly merge costs us billions in lost productivity due to unnecessary traffic

-13

u/drake90001 16d ago

I think some people need to accept their too aggressive to be driving

21

u/JalapenoPopPoop 16d ago

Wanting to merge at the proper speed so that you aren't in anger isn't aggression, its proper driving

-13

u/drake90001 16d ago

You literally said it makes you so angry

16

u/JalapenoPopPoop 16d ago

Did you know that you can be angry at something without becoming aggressive? Or is that a level of nuance your peanut brain isn't capable of?

6

u/djgoodhousekeeping 16d ago

People who resort to tone policing when they know they're wrong or aren't getting their way are some of the most manipulative psychos out there

u/djgoodhousekeeping 16d ago

"I can endanger the lives of everyone around me and if anyone gets mad at me they have an anger and aggression problem"

5

u/Wide-Tumbleweed-3970 16d ago

What does going 20 below the speed limit have to do with aggressive drivers?

-20

u/drake90001 16d ago

People getting angry because someone’s going slower than them is what it has to do with aggressive drivers

14

u/Wide-Tumbleweed-3970 16d ago

Carefully choose to ignore “merge ramp” huh. Yall slow mergers are the reason people get into accidents.

13

u/D74248 16d ago

How about getting angry at inconsiderate drivers who are too stupid to understand the the smooth flow of traffic prevents accidents? Is it wrong to be angry about people who endanger others?

Frankly, the NFL rookie in his new 911 is less of a hazard than a putter driver merging onto a busy highway in their Prius at 30 mph slower than the flow of traffic.

Don't be dense

u/isntmyusername 16d ago

But that’s not what is being discussed here. Dangerous merging is what’s being discussed.

can we give a shout out to the folks that make a COMPLETE STOP before merging onto the highway 😡😡😡

2

u/Ryuzakku 16d ago

I do love merging into 110km/hr traffic going 65 because brainfart in front of me decided to put everybody's lives in danger

2

u/Unusual-Cricket2231 16d ago

Yeah well there is always some total cockbiter that sees you merging ahead of them and then says to themselves “not today sunshine” and then proceeds to accelerate so you cannot merge at that speed and have to suddenly brake. Happens on the A40 all the time.

There is on an ramp on my daily commute that is one of the longest that I've ever seen anywhere, and it slopes downhill. It is insanely easy to get up to 70 mph no matter what someone is driving.

It never fails that someone comes down it at 50 mph the whole way and then they cause chaos at the end of it. There is a 50 mph road that is parallel to the highway; there is no need to depart from it.

Don't even get me started when it rains!

u/praetorian1979 16d ago

God I hate that shit! They built these super long on and off ramps for a reason! Get your ass up to speed, or get your ass down to speed depending on what you're doing highway wise, or stay the fuck off the highway!

My highway-related pet peeve is the trucks.

Three lane highway speed limit is 110km/h, trucks speed limited to 100km/h. The one in the left lane is doing like 99.5km/h, so obviously the truck behind him needs to overtake. He gets up to a roaring 99.6km/h and does the world's slowest overtake.

Meanwhile everyone is getting pissed off and doing 120 to pass in the right lane. If you're too slow to spot it and merge into that right lane, you get trapped behind the truck as 3 lanes' worth of traffic filter past the 2 trucks attempting to battle for who gets to their destination 3 seconds quicker.

Literally phoenix. I've driven and lived all over the country phoenix is the worst. 30 mph on the on ramp and I look like the asshole going around a boomer who's treating the onramp like a 1 way stop

Idk sometimes my old vehicle can't merge at those speeds in time. I try my best (well my car does) but I know I piss people off lol. I do get it though, I used to be on the otherside when I had a newer vehicle before selling it.

Some people almost come to a full stop at one near me (GA400 south). It is the most infuriating shit ever. It causes so many rearend accidents on that on ramp.

I bought a 2018 Prius for our commuter car. Everyone knows it's a slow car and knowing what the dash is like, it's fucking infuriating when I see other Prius drivers trying to merge going 20+ below the speed of traffic and their dash still shows them in Eco mode.

Making everything worse for everyone else because they didn't want their mpg to dip below like 48mpg for five seconds.

I don't know how anyone can even stay in Eco mode, it's agonizingly slow. I doubt I've used it for over like 5 miles total since I've owned it.

SERIOUSLY!! This drives me nuts and happens EVERY. SINGLE. DAY at the exact same ramp on route from my kids school. People merging on the freeway at 35-45mph and then proceed to get over multiple lanes still driving slow

0

u/chloe38 16d ago

Omg where i live it’s worse than that lol people driving 45km to merge onto a 100km hwy

u/steveaspesi 15d ago

We hava a lot of H1B visa drivers where I live. They might drive a Porsche merging onto the highway at 45 mph. You know what I mean?
