Yeah, all depends on who would buy it. But hey, maybe we end up in the good timeline were they get sold to someone like Owlcat or Larian... God I wish.

A real-time-with-pause/turn based mass effect. I can't think of a worse direction outside of maybe a mass effect racing game ;). Larian made dragona age though... Chefs kiss.

I think it could be great tbh, but we have Owlcat literally working a 3rd Person real-time combat RPG in the form of the Expanse Osiris. If that turns out well then just imagine the possibilities.

Not gonna lie - hadn't heard about that. Interesting. That's one to follow.

A turn based mass effect would actually be pretty great. Go the full opposite of what mass effect 2 was. I think this would add something that was missing in the combat in most of the games. The powers and abilities felt like they needed a way to target them better.

I could also see a xcom like game working very well in the mass effect universe.

Can't say I agree with the first bit, but was gonna suggest that there's totally scope for an xcom style game in the ME universe.

It gets sold to a developer that has done RPGs.

That developer is Bethesda studios.

Or it gets sold to a developer that has done shooters

That developer is Respawn (to delay Titanfall 3 and Jedi 3)
