New Rule - No Non-Adobe Presets
Good morning, afternoon, evening; upon review of the recent drama and the reality is that your mods are human with day jobs. We will no longer be allowing posts about presets that are not free for all in the discover tab of Lightroom.
Ongoing discussions in this sub about presets turn into a nightmare each time. There are other subs that will be more suited for non-Adobe preset discussion.

HELP High School Ball Photos privated, could I somehow email the owner for access?
I had the link to my 2025 Ball Photos but the photographer privated the album. It says I need an account to view them. I don't know much about Adobe Lightroom but if I made an account could I know who the owner is and email or message them to ask for access? There's some photos of me and my friends I didn't download at the time but I want to see again.

Discussion When will Lightroom replace Lightroom Classic for professional work?
I know plenty of professional photographers who use Lightroom Classic or Capture One, but I don’t know anyone doing serious professional work primarily in the newer Lightroom.
I’ve tried switching to Lightroom several times over the years. I usually download it, use it for a while, and really like parts of the interface . But every single time I eventually hit something important that Lightroom still can’t do or doesn’t do nearly as well as Classic and I end up going back. So I gave up that idea many years ago . but Has Lightroom finally caught up with Lightroom Classic enough that you could realistically use it as your main professional photo application?
what are the major Classic features that are still missing or significantly worse in Lightroom?
Is the gap actually getting small now, or is Lightroom still mainly aimed at a different type of user? Or when will Lightroom pass classic?

Processing Question AI Denoise on Ipad Air M1
I am thinking on getting an Ipad Air with the M1 chip to be able to use the AI Denoise feature. My question is how long does it take to complete the process on a Nikon Raw file 25MB? Also, can you batch multiple RAW pictures at once?
Thank you.

Discussion Why is Lightroom Classic tethering still so limited after all these years?
I use Lightroom Classic professionally, and the tethering workflow still feels like something Adobe added years ago and then basically stopped developing beyond adding support for new cameras.
A few things that constantly annoy me
You can’t just select an exact existing folder and shoot directly into it. Lightroom wants you to select the parent folder and then create/name a session folder. I could of course miss something but…
you can’t keep the exact same filenames as the camera writes to the memory card. The Canon SDK can expose the camera filename, so technically this should be possible. Instead Lightroom forces its own naming workflow Even if you set original filenmaes it doesn’t do it. Maybe only never cameras
3.. The tethering control bar is a floating panel. You can’t properly dock it into the Lightroom interface, so it is constantly sitting on top of images or controls while you’re browsing, rating, cropping or making adjustments during a shoot. Less problem on large monitor but when you o ly out on location with laptop.
- There are almost no advanced delivery/workflow options. Why can’t I automatically send JPEG previews to a cloud folder, FTP/SFTP server, web gallery or client-facing browser interface while keeping the RAW files locally? A photographer could shoot while an art director in another room or another country reviews selects in real time. You could with some workarounds
Yet the basic functionality feels almost unchanged from what it was 10-15 years ago.
Lightroom Classic is still heavily used by professional photographers, so I find it strange that tethering seems to get so little development compared with other parts of the application.
Is there a technical reason for this, or has Adobe basically decided that serious tethered workflows are Capture One’s territory?

Discussion Which mac (m6 vs m5 pro)?
Hobby photographer, Lightroom user for decades now. Retired and I no longer need a Windows machine for my other life. As mentioned in previous threads, Windows just drags with the latest Lightroom.
So I'm looking at Mac mini M6 configurations versus Mac pro M5. (I don't do much video so I don't think a studio is needed.)
Any insights are much appreciated as I don't know my a Mac from my elbow. My workflow is 95% Lightroom classic with an occasional image thrown into Photoshop and back. Newest import is stored locally and then moved to a network drive when I'm finished editing.

Discussion Macro pad + use cases
My wife has been looking into a macro pad but she can't imagine use cases. She hears of other photographers talk about their pad like its a holy grail for culling among other things.
I have a decent grasp on what a pad can do, feature wise but have no idea how it may integrate woth lightroom for those comfort QOL uses.
Any help or advice would be appreciated - video recommendations are best!

HELP - Lightroom Classic Issues Tethering Sony A7IV to LR Classic
So for the past week now I've been trying to tether my A7IV to LrC to take the next step toward on-site shooting and editing. The problem I've run into is that once I plug the camera in via USB-C and launch the tethering process, it just stays stuck on the "Detecting Camera" load window, and never makes it any further.
Per Reddit and Adobe forums, here are the solutions I've tried and had no luck with:
1) Making sure my USB-C cable is capable of streaming ✅
2) Tried resetting my "preferences" in LrC ✅
3) Making sure LrC and my camera are both updated ✅
4) Made sure my camera streaming settings are correct ✅
I saw something about swapping out drivers for Lightroom, but since I'm on a newer MacBook, I don't have access the change the drivers.
Any solutions or advice would be greatly appreciated. I would be massively bummed if Im just not able to get this working..

HELP - Lightroom Can't edit photos on SD card anymore
Need some help folks. I'm using Lightroom 9.6 and for some reason I can no longer edit my photos on the SD card anymore. I can see them but they're all greyed out and when I tried to browse and add them it says "Previously Added". I have all my edits on the SD card. I can see the .arc and .xmp files on the SD card. Appreciate any help on this.

Hi all, I checked that the watermark option is toggled off on the export settings, but it still includes it with every picture I send. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Considering leaving LR Classic
TL:DR: Sporadic shooter considering dropping LRC for Luminar Web.
When i was in my late teens till early thirties i’ve been a fanatic, semi pro photographer to a hobbyist. Now in my mid thirties I’ve only used LRC a hand full of times a year. Mainly for holidays and sometimes for work events. When I shoot i do so in RAW i do feel the need to edit after. I am used to LRC, use LR sporadically if i edit on iPad. But I can’t justify the subscription fee anymore even at its lowest tier. My macbook Pro (last intel gen) is managing but struggling more and more. My current laptop is an ARM Surface laptop that can’t handle LRC.
I got a mail promoting Luminar Web (with mobile included as a gift). It is a one time buy for 70 bucks. I’ve used an old version of Luminar which was fine but a bit slow with RAW files. This seems improved now. The romantic in me wants to keep LRC because I still feel like a photographer but reality is catching up with me. I just need a tool to sporadically edit a photo that goes beyond the basic sliders without a subscription.
Anybody able to give me a comparison from experience?

Tutorial Lightroom Tutorial
What's the best Lightroom Classic course for a complete beginner? I'm looking for something that explains all the tools and settings step by step, so I can actually understand how to edit photos rather than just copy someone's settings.

Tutorial Made a Lightroom Classic plugin that texts your photos to your phone
Long time LR Classic user. My workflow for getting a photo to my phone for Instagram was: export to desktop, AirDrop to phone, save, post. Every single time.
So over the past day I built a plugin that does it in one keystroke. Select the photo you want, hit Option+S, and it exports (2048px sRGB JPEG, 90% quality, IG-ready) and sends it to your phone over iMessage. Lands in Messages a few seconds later, tap to save, post it. Done.
Some implementation notes for anyone curious:
- It's a Lua plugin (the only thing LR Classic supports) that renders the photo and shells out to a CLI tool called imsg to actually send the iMessage, because the obvious AppleScript approach for sending attachments is broken on recent macOS. Took me embarrassingly long to figure that out.
- iCloud Photos sync was my first attempt at this. It works but the sync delay made it useless for the "edit, send, post" flow. iMessage is instant.
- Your phone number goes in a config file that's gitignored, so it never leaves your machine if you clone the repo.
Install is one line if you trust random curl|bash (no judgment either way, the script is short and readable if you want to look first):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YashaVasilyev/send-to-phone-lightroom/main/setup.sh | bash
One caveat: you need Full Disk Access enabled for Lightroom, and the first run will throw a couple of macOS permission dialogs at you. Both are one-time things.
Tested on LR Classic 26.x / macOS. Free, MIT license, repo here: https://github.com/YashaVasilyev/send-to-phone-lightroom
Happy to answer questions or take feature requests. The thing I'm most unsure about is the export settings being hardcoded - if people want a size/quality picker I can add it.

Discussion How many photos do you edit per hour?
I hate editing. And I just got a quote from a friend of mine who is willing to edit my shoots for $20 an hour. He said he can edit up to 30 pics an hour but my shoots are normally full-day events which can net me 600+ pictures… so the math turns out kinda high.
What do you think?

Discussion Damn, you guys pay $50/hour for photo editing?
I just read another post on here and some of you said you pay up to $50 an hour for photo editing?
That’s crazy.
I might as well quit photography and stick to editing at that point. 😭
Considering 80% of “editing” nowadays is done with presets and luts, I don’t understand why anyone would even go near $20/hour.
Hit me up if you want a photo editor. I’ll gladly take $10 an hour. Seriously. That’s our average wage here in Puerto Rico.
So unless you live in California or Washington DC where the average hourly wage is $57/hour… I just don’t see it. At that point just hire someone out-of-state to edit for you.

HELP - Lightroom Classic Lightroom Classic, never used, crashes upon opening
Hello, I recently downloaded Adobe Lightroom Classic (v.15.6), but whenever I try to open it I am met with a flash of the opening splash screen before it crashes (or just closes, I'm not sure) and haven’t been able to open it at all. I was using regular Lightroom previously and that works perfectly fine. I have never used Lightroom Classic before on any computer.
For reference, I'm on a Mac with an Apple M4 Pro chip (if that matters) on the latest update 27.0.1. I was on the previous update before, and it didn't work then either, so I tried updating to see if that would fix it. I've tried restarting my computer, deleting Lightroom Classic and redownloading it, downloading a previous version (got the same issue), and opening it with shift+option as I've heard that's also a fix. If I click "reset preferences" when I open it with shift+option, all it does is load a little before crashing again. The "start normally" option does the same thing.
If I hover over the app in my dock, it'll say "Running in Background" for a few seconds after the splash screen disappears, before that text disappears as well and the app shows as closed. Trying to open an image with Lightroom Classic doesn't work either, although it stays open for a few seconds longer than usual before closing again. The splash screen never says anything except the credits and “Reading preferences…”
If I could get some help with this that’d be great! I’m seriously lost. Thanks.

Workflow Free Lightroom Classic plugin for Elgato Stream Deck: Lumapress
Hi everyone,
we’ve been working on Lumapress, a free plugin that connects Elgato Stream Deck with Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Until now, controlling Lightroom with a Stream Deck usually meant buying a third-party plugin or setting up a combination of Midi2LR and additional MIDI tools. Lumapress connects the two applications directly, without a MIDI layer in between.
You can assign Lightroom functions to the buttons on any Stream Deck model. On the Stream Deck + and Stream Deck + XL, the dials and touch strip can also control development settings such as exposure, white balance, contrast, HSL, Color Grading and mask adjustments. Pressing a dial resets the corresponding value.
The download includes the Stream Deck plugin, the Lightroom Classic plugin and example profiles for every current Stream Deck model. The profiles are only a starting point. You can change the assignments or build your own setup from scratch.
Lumapress is available for macOS 13 or later. A Windows 10 and 11 beta is included as well. It requires Lightroom Classic 15 or later and Stream Deck 7.1 or later.
The plugin is free, including professional use. You do not need an account or a newsletter subscription to download it.
Download: https://aftersnap.io/lumapress
There is also a separate free icon pack for anyone who wants to customise their profiles.
Lumapress is made by the team behind aftersnap. If you try it, we’d genuinely like to hear what works, what feels unclear and which Lightroom functions you would like us to add next.
