Notice: Rule change regarding adult content

Hi all!

This subreddit is not a NSFW sub, and we've worked to keep it that way. Sometimes that means the rules need to be clarified or otherwise tweaked.

A couple of years ago, we amended the rules to state that "hard core" submissions are not allowed, because we were seeing a disturbing trend of art featuring minors, bestiality, and other extreme themes that you, the users, did not appreciate. We received very positive feedback for that change, with many users making it clear that they do not want this sub to be NSFW.

Since then, we've continued to remove a number of pieces that we considered to be borderline porn because they depicted sexual acts, graphic display of genitals, etc. Again, users have let us know that these are not appreciated, and just as importantly, they are not SFW. However, the difficulty in having a "no porn" rule is in defining what "porn" actually is. As the Supreme Court said ages ago "I know it when I see it", but that doesn't make for a clear and consistent rule.

All that to say that in the spirit of keeping this sub SFW and for making clear what that means, we have looked at other SFW art subs and going forward will follow their lead in that only PG-13 content will be allowed. This means no sexual activity of any kind, no explicit display of genitals, etc.

We will continue to allow tasteful artistic nudes as long as they have the NSFW designation.

We know this will disappoint some users, and we're sorry for that, but again, we are not a NSFW sub and don't want to become one. Please keep that in mind before you post. Thank you!

Vector Dolly Parton (1946-2026), a vector illustration I made. She's one of the very few people I've ever drawn who got to see their own portrait.

10 Folklore Fairies// ink on paper
I just finished an old WIP.
I stopped and forgot it with my old stretch book 5 years ago, with 2 fairies still missed.
Until a follower asked me about it…. twice🫣it feels nice to know someone is waiting, even when it is just one person.

Meet Iris, a part-time baddie, a part-time diva, and a full-time model! Another OC joining the roster ✨

I had so much fun designing her! Would you believe me if I told you she came into existence because I was obsessed with a specific model I found on Pinterest? I adore the hair aesthetic so much that I just had to design a character around it 💅

Marker Could I sell these?

Hi there, I’ve been making hand drawn name plate illustrations here and there for a few years now for friends and family. They’ve evolved to become quite personalized, where people are requesting themes. I’ve been framing them as well and would be happy to keep doing so. Some are 5x7, some are 8x6.

Are these sellable on Etsy or somewhere? Could you give me an honest price range of what one might pay? They’re ink and markers.

Rules for r/Illustration

1. Follow Reddiquette

Remember the human. Avoid personal attacks and harassment. If you have an issue with someone's post or comment, report it and let the mod team handle it if action is needed.

2. Posts/Comments must be relevant

Post only illustrations. No "What style is this?" posts.

Posts and comments should be relevant to illustration. While we welcome all users, discussions/arguments about politics, culture etc. are better suited elsewhere. Content of this nature will be considered off-topic and removed.

3. Critiques must be constructive

Critiques which are just negative and offer no constructive feedback drag the artist down, and they drag the community down. We build each other up here.

4. Credit must be given

Do not post other artists' work as your own. Non-OC posts must credit the artist in the post title. If the artist is your child, a name is not required. If you are looking for artist info, try r/CreditToTheArtist.

5. No self-promotion or work offers/requests

Please do not share social links or handles anywhere, including in your art. If the primary focus of a post is self-promotion or work offers/requests, it will be removed. Posts asking for upvotes/karma will be removed.

If a user posts a comment requesting links to socials, you may reply via DM. Having links on your profile are encouraged, though directing users via your post or comment to "check my profile" will be considered to be promotional.

6. No AI-generated images

AI-generated images are not allowed here and will result in an immediate ban.

If you report a post as AI, please contact us via Mod Mail with a link to the post, explaining the reasons behind your report. Do not argue or make accusations in the comments section under a post.

7. No adult content; PG-13 is allowed

No depictions of sexual activity, implied or otherwise, or other graphic sexual content. No fetish-based art. Please keep all content PG-13.

Tasteful nudes are allowed, but must have the proper NSFW designation.

8. No anti-NSFW commentary

Please don't comment negatively about NSFW subject matter based on the subject matter alone, and don't be a creep about NSFW illustrations. This is not a NSFW subreddit and lewd comments are not welcome here.

9. Mod discretion

Moderators reserve the right to make decisions in the best interests of the sub and its users.
