Neon Pink Refresh

and like clockwork, the 6-week root-bleach-and-refresh has gone underway once more.

for anyone curious, i use ion creme lightener and developer (20vol with a splash of 10vol), 2 tubes iroiro neon pink, 1.5 jars of manic panic electric pink pussycat, and a little bit of manic panic hot hot pink!!

for anyone who likes changing up their color often: do NOT use iroiro neon pink unless you plan on having it for a loooong time, it's impossible to remove lol!! (exactly why i use it tho)

At home lightener recs?

I know, I know, don't do it, but I have to take professional headshots next week and I'm broke as hell.

I've done the coloring part myself a ton of times (whenever I get it done professionally I do the upkeep to keep it bright and fun). Currently my hair is super long and most of it is already lightened. My roots are probably about 4 inches. My hair is fine and it's that brown mouse-y color I swear is super common; not quite brunette, but too dark to be considered blonde...

Anyway, I don't want to go full platinum or anything, and I won't touch the already bleached part. I just want to lighten some of the natural part that has grown in enough so that some color will stick. Basically I'm going to put blue at the top and ombre it to purple, then pink at the tips. (I have done all this part before) I just want the blue to have some effect on the darker part of my hair, so it has a smoother transition from brown to blue. So what is a good/easy lightener that I will not be leaving on very long anyway?

Ohh, and also a good post-coloring conditioning treatment?

Please help??? I'd be ever so grateful!

Thank you in advance :)

Help me get out of the hair-color correction cycle! I want a natural level 8 dirty blonde, but my lengths keep going dark/warm.

I'm hoping to get some advice from people experienced with DIY hair coloring and color correction because I feel like I've been going in circles with my hair!

My goal: I want a natural-looking, neutral level 8 dirty blonde that blends with my natural greys/whites. I don't want platinum blonde, a strong ash tone, or obvious regrowth. Ideally, I want a soft, natural color that grows out nicely and doesn't require constant correction.

My hair color history:

I've been trying to get my hair lighter and more natural-looking, but the lengths have been stubborn and seem to hold onto darker artificial pigment. Warmth, especially orange/red tones, has been a concern.

I've used Color Oops to remove artificial color, but my hair ended up looking dark again. I've experimented with different natural shades along the way, but I'm trying to move away from repeatedly coloring my lengths and potentially making them darker.

What I'm currently doing:

I currently mix Wella Color Charm Demi 8N and 7N in a 50/50 ratio. I no longer use 6N.

I'm trying to figure out whether this combination makes sense for my goal or whether I'm unintentionally keeping my hair darker than I want it to be.

Products I have on hand:

Wella Color Charm Demi-Permanent 8N

10-volume developer

20-volume developer

A small amount of bleach powder

I'm hesitant to use ash shades because I don't want my hair to turn muddy, greenish, or overly grey. At the same time, I don't want the warmth in my lengths to keep showing through.

What I'm hoping to figure out:

Is mixing 7N and 8N 50/50 a reasonable approach for achieving a level 8 dirty blonde, or could it be contributing to my hair looking darker?

Should I be treating my roots and lengths differently?

If my lengths have darker artificial color buildup, what's the safest realistic way to get them lighter?

How can I blend my natural greys/whites while keeping the overall result soft and natural?

Should I be approaching this differently altogether rather than continuing to color my hair?

I'm trying to understand what's realistically achievable at home without damaging my hair or getting stuck in another cycle of color correction.

I'm happy to post pictures of my current hair in natural lighting, including my roots, mid-lengths, and ends, and provide more details about my coloring history.

I'd really appreciate honest, constructive advice from anyone who's been through something similar or understands color correction. I'd love to finally find a plan that works with my hair instead of constantly fighting it!

Thank you! ❤️

Most cooperative pink dye?

Hiiii, long time lurker on this sub!

So I’m wanting to do an orange / pink half and half. My base is a very natural coppery colour - I’ve easily gotten to hot orange over this and know how the dye I’ll use will behave.

I’m looking for:

- a pink that will be distinct enough over an orange base to contrast well - so ideally blue based

- something semi permanent/ deposit only only that will fade OR be amiable to neutralising and dyeing back to orange (I currently do a half mix of 7.44 and 6.46 from L’Oréal with 20 vol all over) when I’m ready.

I know pink / red pigment is a clinger, and I’m happy for trial and error - hit me with good recs!

first time bleaching my hair and ofc i got hot roots :’) despite doing my mids and ends first my roots still processed far too quickly </33

im thinking of slapping a peachy pink dye over my roots (shown in last photo!) would this even it out to my mids and ends? or should i look for a toner?

ideally i know i should bleach again however ive already bleached twice with 30 volume and dont want to compromise my hair any more.

any advice greatly appreciated!! i dont mind the peachy colour just wanna even things out :)

Bleached in salon, dyed with Lunar Tides Juniper Green. Fades to emerald green. I re-dye my hair approximately every 3 weeks. Gets a lot of comments, not many of us greenies out there. I’m overdue to get my roots sorted out but because of the peekaboo style they’re not really noticeable. 💚💚💚

Just sharing results of these dyes, this is my 3rd time touching up the color since I got my hair bleached a while back. I did not achieve the same level of pink I was after as I did when I previously did these colors however. I thought it was because it was still sort of a washed out auburn when I did it this time, and applying pink to that made it the reddish you see; but, previously when I did the pink, I had applied it before it had faded as much, so now I wonder if it is better to more frequently add color than to wait till it is mostly out?

Anyway, just sharing results in case anyone is considering their stuff. Also, it looks relatively different indoors vs outdoors, see last pic.

Pls Talk Me Down

Hi all! I have an appointment to color my virgin hair for the first time in ages. My hair is naturally in between ginger and copper, I want to dye it a light to medium mushroom (cool) brown to better suit my cool skin.

I keep wanting to back out because I get panicky thinking of how much care it will need, especially how many specifically color safe products I will need. I am anxious about the additional cost of products on top of the very expensive dye job.

Please tell me this is totally doable. I’d love any product recommendations you may have, especially at the drugstore price point. Any tips for extending time between salon appointments????

Please, talk me off this ledge!

Best Semi permanent hair dye?

so I recently got the itch to dye my hair. I have never dyed it before except when I was little. I really want to do a pink peekaboo, and I thought i had a brand that I could use, (strawberry leopard), but when i looked at it I quickly realized i could not use it due to allergies (it has mango oil in it). I really want to dye my hair but I need a dye that stays long enough but isnt too long? for example, the school im going to next year does not allow dyed hair, so i want one that would last just for the summer but be completely washed out and not stain my hair. I also have the concern about damaging my hair, as it does lean toward the thinner side and can get damaged. please help ive never really done hair dye (the time when i was little doesnt really count even though i dyed my entire head teal). i need a vibrant color too.

Almost 1 year and 2 months since I shaved it

Shaved my head in August 2025 and haven't gotten a haircut since.

Routine:

- L'Oreal 6 oil nourish shampoo and conditioner.

- Shake my head like a wet dog (seriously) after showering. Separates it all nicely.

- Scrunch it a few times with a towel

- Leave it to air dry

I don't use any other hair products, nor do I do plopping or anything like that. In the past when I've tried it has appeared to make things worse.

I don't protect my hair in any particular way. Regular pillow covers and stuff. I don't know what a refresh routine is so I guess I don't do that. I mean when I wake up it's kinda messed up so I use a de-tangling brush on my hair and then wait a few hours for it to start curling up again.

Wella Color Touch 4% developer - will it wash out?

I normally use 5/0 mixed with a bit of 5/97 and 5/71 (4% d) and since it’s very close to my natural shade I can’t tell how fast it normally washes out , but by the looks of grey hair showing again after a while I guess it does

This time I used 4/0 (mostly) with a bit of 5/97 and 4/97
It came out sooo dark for some reason, I’m kinda panicking , it does NOT suit me at all lol

In your experience - how fast Wella CT 4% normally fades?

Choose a color for me!

Hey Guys, I had my hair appointment on the weekend and I thought that I would try going blonde (did it professionally) with black foxtips.

My natural Hair Color is also black and I also had it my whole life (once red but that was a darker nuance too). It did look beautiful styled (and the hair stylist was AMAZING 10/10) but I felt like such an impostor 😭

I think blonde just doesn‘t suit me tbh 😭😭
Can you help me decide on a darker color that would fit me (and my olive skin tone)?

Thank you in advance 😭
