Forever Beta Feedback Chain Lightning is the iconic spell of a shaman

Post image

Max rank Chain Lightning in Classic hit for 505-564, more than Lightning Bolt. In Forever it hits for 120-134, which is less than Lightning Bolt. It does cast faster now (2 sec instead of 2.5) and costs about half the mana granted

I get that Lava Burst is meant to be the new big hitter, but Chain Lightning is the spell shamans have been known for since Warcraft 3

Give us back the big zap pls

Chain lighting and chain heal are iconic class moves. Shaman is the LIGHTNING CLASS who dabbles in other elements

I mean, when they spawn they quite literally yell "Storm, Earth and Fire, heed my call..."

That's how I feel. If I wanted a fire caster, I already have Fire Mage and Destro Lock to choose from. Lightning spells is the niche that Shamans fill in WoW.

Tbh, I always found it kinda awkward the way WoW implemented the Shaman fantasy back in the day. They took all sorts of concepts from WC3, not just from the Shaman unit and the Far Seer hero, but also the Witch Doctor unit, the Shadow Hunter hero, the Tauren Chieftain hero, and the Spirit Walker unit. They tried to mesh three different races' spiritual identities into one class, and that's how we ended up with this amalgamation of class fantasy.

It just feels weird, like the Druids who basically borrowed the Priestess of the Moon class identity and merged it with their nature caster spec to make Boomkins. Meanwhile, Paladins were designed solely based on a very strict class identity that never strayed from its WC3 roots. I'm not saying either design choice is superior, but I feel like there is a dissonance when certain classes have to accommodate more class fantasies than others.
