Feature I love windows 7! running win7 on modern pc! (Ryzen 7900x + b650 gaming x ax v2 + 32gb ddr5).
Hello good people! My god what a pain in the a** to make win7 running on am5 platform lol i lost hours and hours to find prebuild iso that actually works and not BSOD when installing... and setting all crap mbr - legacy inside bios and all other options i had to set (i forgot), then finding drivers... but finally i have my love my windows 7 ^_^ running great no problem so far, expect 2 usb ports on back not working because missing drivers and sometimes i have to restart dwm if i notice small lags when switching from monitor to monitor... also i have it with dual boot windows 10 for games so am not missing anything... people on win 10 does not know how cristal clear is windows 7... lol even on youtube videos looks much better on windows 7 then on windows 10... idk why microsoft f up something... but graphics on windows 10 are different like have some filter over screen like small blur i can't describe it... and am not only one, even gemmini agree with me.
If anybody needs help installing windows 7 on new machine, you can dm and i will dig where i got iso and drivers... and how to set dual boot (if you want 10 or 11) so when you power your pc you can chose which OS to start.
EDIT: For people asking: i found out i download win7 from this: https://archive.org/details/windows-7_20230629 it is prebuild with usb 3.0 drivers then for moderboard chipset and drivers i used this: https://www.mediafire.com/file/cwfpkq39k4prsix/AMD_Ryzen_Drivers_S13_Win7_64_SHA256_RE.7z/file more info: https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/problem-win7-drivers-for-new-amd-usb-3-x-controllers/33603
I had many problems and i have installed it on sata ssd! don't know will on actually m2 ssd work... for dual boot setup: First i make 2 partitions on my sata ssd (one for win 10 and one for win 7) i set to be MBR (not GPT) because windows 7 only support legacy mode to my knowelage... then i set in BIOS to be in legacy mode and installed windows 10 normally on one partition... then started installing win 7 on another... then problem started i had to turn off 1. Secure Boot: Set to Disabled 2. CSM (Compatibility Support Module) / Legacy BIOS: Set to Enabled 3. make sure SATA Mode: Set to AHCI... then after passing 1 installation, 2 second... on 3 restart i had to put my computer name then realized even with (usb 3.0 drivers inside iso) my mouse and keyboard was not moving at all - not working in any usb port (maybe i forgot to turn on "usb legacy support" if that option even exist)... in luck i had ps2 old keyboard and mouse port on my motherboard and i use some old a** ps2 mouse to open on screen keyboard and type name of pc and finally i got inside system... Now second problem because windows keeps replacing some drivers "acpi.sys" idk what is for can't remmeber... i had to get inside my windows 10 and manually replace with cmd commands files inside windows 7 partition because were locked... (you can do like me or maybe get some other way linux or something) after i done that my mouse and keyboards started working and after that was easy... i got inside device manager and all yellow question mark i got update with files from that link i put up here "AMD Ryzen Drivers s13..." this is 80% i remmber, you will get through it if you consistent... for every problem you get you can ask gemmini how to bypass... AI hellped me so much in this process!
