Rant We are truly regressing

one of the few chains that used default oatmilk is now going back to defaulting with dairy which sucks. And I've been noticing my fellow Gen Z peers going back to ordering dairy milk all of a sudden when everyone used to get oatmilk or almond milk in their drinks. I don't understand the strange shift

Please help me find a screenshot of breeders discussing how to manage crying calves.

FOUND IT!! Thank you!!

----

Hello everyone!

I saw a couple of days ago a post on reddit that was a screenshot of a forum where breeders had discussions about their animals.

One of them was asking for help because one of his calf would not stop crying since they had been separated from their mother (šŸ’”).
Her are more details about the conversation. (Please be mindful before reading it. Don't make yourself sad for nothing.) : The breeder was saying how the calves usually give up after a couple of days. Another breeder was saying that one of his calf cried for three weeks and that their voice broke and sounded like a violin.

Sadly, I can't find this post again and it's driving me a bit crazy. I can't even remember if I saw it in r/vegan or r/VeganActivism or r/Vystopia or somewhere else...
I've looked into my browser's history but I just can't find it.

This screenshot inspired me to draw a comic and I'd really like to be able integrate it at the end of it.

Thank you for your help !

18 just turned vegetarian, on my way to become vegan

Hey, I'm 18 and today I finally told my mom I don't want to eat meat. I was bottling it up for a few months and I couldn't make the decision. Five days ago, I made the decision to stop eating meat entirely but I wasn't ready to tell my parents because in my country, our culture is based on a very meaty diet and it's hard to get accepted as a vegan or a vegetarian because people think you're crazy. So because of all that emotional pressure, in tears I told my mom and first she giggled but then she hugged me and accepted it with the classic phrases "it's just a phase", "well but you need meat", etc. Let's say she accepted it and I can finally say I'm not a meat eater. I hope being vegetarian is just going to be a phase but I need to get used to making tofu, tempeh, seitan and basic meals and only after that I can exclude dairy and eggs, which I hope will be soon.

Advice Seeking motivation

I was vegan for about 2.5 years and fell off while pregnant. I’m trying to get back on track and would love to hear what helps you all remain committed. The Dominion documentary has been the biggest eye opener for me. Please share what has motivated you. Could be books, documentaries, personal health improvements, anything really! TIA!

Question What is some vegan Halloween candy I can get for everyone?

I got Joyride but I can only find what’s the equivalent of king or normal sized not the normal Halloween stuff.

What is some vegan candy that can be bought in bulk, we are probably in the top ten most visited houses in town?

Edited this in: Please mention stuff that is good and if Joyride does have a Halloween version, then please tell me, also don’t recommend anything 30$ per pound, that is past the price limit.

Question Colonoscopy Prep?

Hey everyone!

I have a colonoscopy coming up in a few days and am wondering what people do for the clear liquid diet day. Specifically- I know some candies are allowed so long as they don’t have red dye and don’t have any filling. Does anybody have any recommendations as far as that goes? (all other suggestions are welcome also, but that’s my big curiosity)

Disturbing i want a watchlist

i would like a watchlist of all the films that helped you guys understand the full scope of animal abuse, documentaries specifically.

i was trying to find videos on youtube and. to my dismay i found an insane amount of ai generated factory farm posts, with cute music where they try to make it look humane. the comments are all bots with numbers on their usernames saying things like ā€œwow! so sanitary! id love to buy meat from thereā€ that in itself is incredibly disturbing.

but anyway, its just hard to find it when these farms are producing pro factory rhetoric. it has to be some corporation pumping out videos like that. very unnerving

if you could also include the platform it’s on that would help! thank you guys

Rant Why do non vegans think we don’t eat bread

I’ve been asked by several different people if I don’t eat bread because it has yeast in it which is alive. One even tried to explain to me that I shouldn’t eat bread for this reason. One time someone at work brought in their own homemade bread and before giving it to me said ā€œwait! Do you consider yeast to be an animal?ā€ (Because they know I don’t eat animals). Does anyone else have this ridiculous experience …

Discussion How can I Become vegan

I’ve tried multiple times to be vegetarian but honestly my family never supported me so I never could keep with it. Well now I can buy my own stuff and stick with it but I wanna be vegan this time. I wanna go all in, not just the diet but fighting for animals rights and everything. What are the best foods and habits that can keep me from not messing up.

help becoming vegan

i've been a vegetarian for 2-3 years now and i would love to go fully vegan, but my main concern going into it is my fear of new foods and textures. i have audhd and i generally stick very much to my safe foods because i get super nauseous with certain textures and i have a hard time trying new food because of it, especially things with a soft texture like tofu.

im just really scared of losing a lot of my safe foods but i REALLY want to go vegan, where do i start? has anyone else had this issue?

Food THEY'RE DISCONTINUING THE VEGAN LINDT BARS !!!

I went to the Lindt store yesterday (in Ontario, Canada) and the worker told me they're taking them off the shelves and discontinuing them. I am so so so devastated. Every time an amazing vegan chocolate comes out, it gets discontinued immediately. I WISH MORE PEOPLE WERE VEGAN so the demand would increase.

Discussion New to this

Hello all! I’ve been looking into becoming a vegan at some point. As of today, I have cut out all dairy and have not ate meat/poultry in a few weeks. I have no desire to eat meat. I am still eating fish though (for now). Is pescatarian vegan a thing? Not sure what I would label it. I’ve had an awakening recently regarding meat consumption. I’ve seen many awful documentaries and videos on animal treatment for human consumption. I’d like some advice on alternatives to dairy products (brands etc) that I can switch to. I’d love to hear the story behind how you all became vegan and the steps you took. Also, if anyone has a website or YouTube channel they follow for vegan recipes, please share! I’m not too sure what I’m doing, I come from a family and culture that eats meat, chicken, and lamb pretty exclusively.

Video Game as activism?

What would you think if you saw this message?

Hello everyone!

I'm developing a dark horror sci-fi game inspired by The Matrix, to show the horrors and suffering the animals go through, just with a "human harvesting" twist - the acts and scenes will be 1:1 paralell to IRL animal factory farming.

What do you think about this idea and what would you suggest to get the message through?

Researches show that players don't like to feel lectured and any attempt of activism in games are met with mocking and resistance.

I have a plan to draw a subtle parallel and gradually reveal the plot in the game through psychological methods.

Any advice is welcome.

I'm looking for recipes that are rich in sodium

• Upvotes

Recently I got diagnosed with POTS and my cardiologist ordered me to drastically increase my salt intake. The problem is, I don't really enjoy salty foods (I often forget to salt fries even!) so just adding salt to what I usually eat is an awful experience and I'd really love to have some dishes that balance out the saltiness. Right now I'm coping by consuming vegan dried sausages since they contain a solid 3 grams of salt per pack. I might try sodium tablets in the future but they aren't really available in my country and I'd really like to avoid adding more pills to my daily routine as I'm alreaady struggling to remember everything I have to take every day.

What are everyone's favorite but pricey vegan things they splurge for on special occasions like holidays + birthdays etc?

I am getting a settlement check ( old job that wouldn't pay me got a class action lawsuit yay!) and getting holiday overtime hours so I want to splurge and support vegan brands and businesses ! Im located in the US

Im mourning the loss of the trader Joe's holiday roast so I would love recommendations for 'roasty' type things to fill the void too!

Meathead Bodybuilder Tries Vegan Food

Thumbnail
youtube.com
88 Upvotes

A vegan advocate reacts to a non-vegan bodybuilder who eats fully plant based for a full day. At the end of the day, he calls his experiment "awesome!" The meat eater ends the video by saying "All right vegans, you win!" Mike Israetel has almost 4 million subscribers on YouTube. I'm glad that they are hearing some good things about veganism and vegan products. It is unfortunate that he is an example of someone who recognizes that veganism is morally superior yet continues to create the demand for animal products.

I don’t know what to do

• Upvotes

I’m a minor living with my family who refuses to even acknowledge the fact that I want to be vegan. I want to start by making plant-based meals since they seem like the hardest part of changing lifestyles, but for some reason my mom just refuses?? She’s constantly buying the same junk but she’s mad at me for wanting to make this black bean and rice taco meal I made before that she liked.

Then I don’t know where to begin with meals. I want to try and mimic meals based on where I come from but I don’t really see any interesting recipes on it, I also want to explore different options as well but it’s the same thing with the other recipes; they look so uninteresting. I feel so horrible for being picky because at the end of the day it’s not just other animals getting hurt; it’s everything and everyone because of my decisions.

Bisquick

Just wanted everybody to know that Bisquick's original mix is no longer vegan. They added dairy (the box says that it contains "real buttermilk"). The gluten-free version still seems to be vegan for now, but other options include Birch Benders (at least the organic classic and the plant protein; I haven't checked all the other flavors), Bob's Red Mill, and Pearl Mill. Or, of course, you can always make your own.

Question Help reading labels

I moved to the US a few months ago and have been having a hard time reading and understanding labels.

Can someone explain how something can be plant-based but not vegan? also how come none of the breads here have a marking that says its vegan? I mostly google things and based on the ingredients, a lot of stuff looks vegan to me but im not fully sure how to confirm it. Google always says that xyz is vegan based on ingredients but nowhere on the packaging do they explicitly mention that. im talking pasta sauce, bread, potato chips etc. thanks in advance.

Y'all I am new at this. 😭 I guess I found the importance of reading labels out today. I was ordering more of my favorite sandwhich bread when I did a double take on the ingredients. WHY DOES BREAD NEED FISH? What are we here for? Only to suffer? I don't understand this world. šŸ’€

Guess I need to pay more attention.
