Hated Tropes Things meant to be progressive just end up being incredibly offensive

What If - In one of the comics Miles becomes Thor, and it's full of stereotypes about black people such as the Mjolnir having graffiti on it and the infamous "by Odin's fade"

Emilia Perez - Everything about the movie

The rumour was, before it was cancelled, that these were kids brought in by corporations to appeal to the kids and they would eventually realise they were working for the bad guys and turn on them. As a commentary on how out of touch and faux supportive capitalists can be I think it could have worked. Shame, we'll never get to know as the internet reacted so badly.

I mean, I don't think it being self aware makes it any better, just even more insincere. "Haha, get it, we are fully aware all of this is performative, isn't this funny?

I think the names were chosen to be made fun of though and was going to critique the performative capitalism of it all. Just what I heard though. Personally it seemed to on the nose to have been serious

Sure, but the internet mob has a habit of slipping into Poe's law too many times.

Maybe, but that does not make it any less insincere. "Look how over the top and ridiculous all of this is, just because our capitalist overlords think it will target a certain audience and create social media engagement. Anyways, buy our shit."

Like, this would maybe work on a free webcomic by an independent artist, not Marvel fckin Comics

Honestly I don't really get what you're saying but hard to defend a book and concept they never went forward with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, this is basically all rumor at this point. The marketing is what killed it. Either they were completely serious and it should have been killed in the crib or they trusted the audience too much to notice the satire.

It was a tie-in miniseries for this crossover event about the government targeting kids with powers, the whole registration thing again. Covid happened and the event was mostly cancelled, almost none of the stuff for it was ever done.
