Hated Tropes Things meant to be progressive just end up being incredibly offensive

What If - In one of the comics Miles becomes Thor, and it's full of stereotypes about black people such as the Mjolnir having graffiti on it and the infamous "by Odin's fade"

Emilia Perez - Everything about the movie

This feels like a parody. Like a superhero team that would appear on a Family Guy episode, or something.

It basically was. The characters were kind of riffs on the way that comic writers used to take simplified versions of modern trends, and base characters off of them. Night Thrasher, Rocket Racer, etc. Online weirdos took them as completely serious, and still talk about them years later, as if they are A list superheroes with movie deals.

It functionally was but incels still talk about it even though it never came out as if it was going to earnestly use these characters

Yeah it seemed clear to me that clearly there was some self awareness at how paper thin and cheesy these characters were and that there was going to be some rug-pull but because chuds have no reading comprehension, we’ll never know

Kibblesmith is also a comedy writer. All of it screams “Don’t take it so serious”.

Yeah, there’s people in this very thread saying “omg internet gas?? ThAtS sO StUpId” like, yeah.. that’s the joke

He's a pretty good comedy writer too. So even though this sounds awful to me, I'd be curious to actually read it and see what he was thinking/where he was going with this.

I cant imagine seeing characters named “snowflake and safe space” and thinking it’s completely sincere. They may have been playing it straight but only to cover the reveal that they were all grown in a lab or something and this whole story was a commentary on rainbow capitalism/pandering

well then that was a terrible pitch in the initial reveal bc it looked like they were being 100% serious with no satire in the video, you can blame people for thinking it wasnt supposed to a comedic take when it looked so sincere

He was a Colbert writer. Playing a satirical conservative is literally the entire Colbert gig, and similarly, conservatives couldn’t understand it was a joke making fun of them.

I dont think people wouldve looked him up to find this information after the fact tbh

It’s pretty obvious what it is from the content. People getting information from memes destroys media literacy.

I think you’re missing what I’m saying. Like it’s not meant to be a comedy book, yes there’s satire but it’s coming from I assume the eventual reveal that this group wasn’t all that they appear to be, or that some sinister force was pulling their strings. It’s like the initial run of thunderbolts, but with a woke Gen-Z coat of paint

I guess that makes sense

They planned to.
