Why do we live in a future where people see flying cars and whine about them?

26

u/Scared-Show-4511 4d ago

Because are made by Musk. Now if the CCP put something like this, reddit will love it

20

u/Quant_paglu 4d ago

Reddit and Elon thats why

11

u/Embarrassed-Belt-541 4d ago

its because its made by one of elons companies and not the chinese government or smth like that, so reddit will hate it. half the people in tis sub dont seem to realise that if we want to make flying cars, we need to start somewhere. this is that somewhere, its progress

u/Millworkson2008 4d ago

Yea this is quite literally the closest we have gotten to flying cars and suddenly it’s a problem. Had this been ANY other auto manufacturer people would be hyping this up like crazy

2

u/Nyotree-001 4d ago

This is not the closest we have to flying cars there’s several viable models out there that use fans and other thrust options

7

u/coltonbyu 4d ago

Are we really qualifying this as a step towards flying cars? It's not even a viable path forward.

The thing probably has a flight time in the single digit minutes if not less than a minute sustained, and certainly isn't a real car inside. Just a shell full of nothin but tank.

It's not even a path that would scale with miniaturization. Always gonna need a shit ton of gas to do anything

The car fell. It never flew once in the entire "demo".

6

u/hypervortex21 4d ago

What about when it fell upwards and did a flip? Whats wrong with it just being cool?

-1

u/DovahKiller97 4d ago

So when I jump up in the air, Im flying now? I should go get my pilots license

It can be cool but calling it a "flying car" is beyond silly

4

u/Master-Piccolo-4588 4d ago

Because you didn’t. You saw something that looked like a car but wasn’t at all.

Good show though

u/Shadow__People 4d ago

It can drive on 4 wheels it’s a car

there are scooters and golf carts that are not actually cars. I bet this is some kind of electric scooter made of carbon fyber without any real heavy stuff inside except pressure tanks and controls

Im talking about how you instantly labeled me as elon fan.

Nah, if BMW or Ferrari put a marketing stunt like this out there, I would also ask “why?” As well.

It isn’t a technological marvel. This is 2026, a computer attached with thrusters jumping over a few vehicles is more or less just stunt development team for another fast and furious movie.

We have had this tech a while, just never attached it to vehicle body panels. This is no different then when we put jet engines on cars years ago. For the stunt.

u/leaf_26 3d ago

because if this is what makes a "flying car" then we already have them 50 years ago. it's irritating for the most basic physics to earn undue credit when its purpose is to not create anything in a context meant to push the industry.

1

u/Weird_Solid2311 4d ago

It’s not about a flying car; it’s about Elon and the urge to trash everything associated with him.

-1

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 4d ago

Cause they don’t have good stability, jobs, are struggling to pay any bills, yet we have the largest military in the world and have been constantly at war with the Middle East for decades.

Just a few things. I didn’t even get to the pedophilia or the guy profiting off this show being a Nazi.

There’s like a lot of reasons that the people who don’t forget don’t like this

But hey they put some jets on the Nazi brand car. Neat

Dude just log off for a while holy shit

5 year old account, low karma, not active in any subs, random gen name 2 words and a 3 digit number:

Bot account

Now check the other top commenters here. Lot of bots showed up for the Nazi guys support

2

u/Unusual-Piece-6223 4d ago

Yeah, everyone is a bot who doesn't spend their entire life on this shithole site arguing with all the miserable, detached, chronically online people.

You are the real deal with an average of 24 daily posts, lol.

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 4d ago

Another one.

2

u/Slow-Code-661 4d ago

The fact that instead of just letting it go you go out of the way to stalk my account kind of proves my point. May you get the help you need. God bless.

1

u/Embarrassed-Belt-541 4d ago

youll never believe what im about to tell you about Volkswagen...

0

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 4d ago

Look another one.

Is the Volkswagen ceo doing Nazi salutes on stage?

2

u/Embarrassed-Belt-541 4d ago

"everyone who used the default generated name on reddit is a bot"

are the engineers who made this technology doing nazi salutes in their workshops and laboratories? Hitler (far worse than elon btw) made volkswagen, an extremely successful car company. just because elon is by no means the best of people doesnt mean that what the engineers in his company have achieved isnt impressive.

0

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 4d ago

Hitler didn’t run Volkswagen tho. Not really the same

2

u/Embarrassed-Belt-541 4d ago

Yes but it was his/his party's idea. Same way that this car was elons idea but he didn't build it himself

0

u/SuperSaiyanTupac 4d ago

Car wasn’t his idea either. But he runs the company. And is a proclaimed Nazi in 2026. The engineers chose to work for the Nazi.

If you’re sitting down to dinner with Nazis, you work for Nazis, guess what, you’re a Nazi

0

u/NamesAreAnn0ying 4d ago

I just don’t get why. Like the downforce was cool, I get that part. The flying part seems a little unnecessary but I guess I just don’t understand the importance of it

-1

u/Both-Try1647 4d ago

Because it's not practical nor pheasible? And in the current state Tesla is in, as well as what Elon has been doing and the current state of the US; it's nothing short of a distraction to just jingle keys in front of people so he can fuel his ego

-1

u/samjambetty 4d ago

Because the man who invented them is a trillionaire that desperately tried to get involved in a child sex trafficking ring and funds the man who is 🙂
