Yeah, but that same place is not going to charge $18 for a double quarter pounder meal at McDonalds. Those McD’s prices are like NYC or airport prices.
I'm not sure about McDonald's but I live in a medium sized town and a large number three at Burger King is over $15. I wouldn't be surprised if McDonald is is a few bucks more.
Agreed, just checked my local franchise and they have large Extra Value for 10.39 pre tax. Keep in mind that's for 3.2 oz of meat + condiments vs 12 oz of higher quality beef. Even adding a $4 drink at TR is a better value proposition when you can afford it.
That would be correct, good catch. I mistakenly looked at the Big Mac. The DQP is about the same price, so still a slightly better value based on quality @TR
Yeah, big reason I avoid the big macs. Difficult to get around the Double Quarter Pounder moniker. When that gets dropped, it will be a canary in the coal mine situation
$19.99 in SC. Keep in mind our concerns with Beef imports right now though too. Highly doubt our suppliers would ask many questions in most of the South
I'm also in East Alabama and this price checks out plus according to the website, it's an additional $2.29 for the onions and mushrooms as pictured in the post!
It takes a little bit of a stretch but it's not impossible.
I live in San Diego. I am referring specifically to the McDonald's location on Park Blvd near City College.
I am also choosing a large combo on purpose because I am actively trying to hit the number from the post.
It is $17.29 plus tax
There are affluent neighborhoods here where it could probably exceed $18.
Shit, not too long ago one of the kids wanted chicken strips from Popeye's and they were $17. I drove straight on through and the kids did not get chicken strips.
At the same time, I fully expect the price for a 12 oz New York strip at a nearby Texas Roadhouse to be much higher than $19.
EDIT: If it is any indication of anything, I looked up the prices for the Texas Roadhouse in El Cajon and, according to prices on a menu shared on Yelp, the 8 oz New York strip (that comes with two sides) is $19.99. I didn't see a 12 oz New York strip, but a 12 oz ribeye (and two sides) is $24.49. These meals do not include a drink nor the tip.
What kills me about the original post is that your post already makes a point that the Texas Roadhouse food is a way better deal than McDonald's without any of the rage bait fluff
I hear yah. Its kinda like that show "Whose Line Is it Anyways?" but instead on Reddit where the facts don't matter but we want all the karmafarming points possible.
Plus a drink, plus they expect tips at the steakhouse. You can get a much better meal than McDonald's for the same price as a quarter pounder meal or less but not that one
That sounds like a very reasonable price, but it’s still not a 12oz strip and 2 sides for 19.
I don’t even disagree with the sentiment, I just want realistic numbers. Saying 20 bucks for an 8oz steak and 2 sides still does a great job at hammering the point home while being a lot more honest (that’s aimed at OP, not you sir/maam/they)

While I agree with the general sentiment, where in the world is Texas Roadhouse charging 19 bucks for a 12oz strip and 2 sides?
