does anyone know if the ritz carlton yacht pumps the scent into the suites on board? or on the ship in general? i have a client who has severe allergies and is considering this cruise in Asia but she is very worried about the scents and air fresheners they use.
My name is S. I'm 26 years old female from Algeria.
I don't usually post things like this, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
For a long time now, my dream has been to work for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Every time I see videos or read about the experience they create, I think, "One day, I want to be part of that."
I have a Bachelor's degree in Management and a Master's degree in Human Resource Management, and I'm doing everything I can to build an international career. The hardest part isn't my motivation—it's my passport. Coming from a non-EU country makes it feel like I have to work twice as hard just to get a chance.
Not looking for shortcuts or special treatment. I just want an opportunity to prove myself. I'd happily start in an entry-level position, learn, work hard, and grow within the company.
If anyone here has experience with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection or the luxury cruise industry, I'd really appreciate your advice.
Do they hire people from countries like Algeria?
What role would give me the best chance of getting in?
What should I focus on to become a stronger candidate?
This dream means a lot to me, and I hope one day I'll be able to say I made it.
I recognize that all tips are supposed to be included in the RCYC fees, however I’m wondering if I need to be prepared with cash for any “not included” gratuities?
Hi all, my fiancé and I are thinking of booking a trip this October for our honeymoon. I have severe food allergies and was wondering if anyone here has been on a trip with allergies? If so, how was the trip and dining on the yacht? We already in communication with the Ritz, but I was hoping to read some personal stories regarding this. Thank you!
Excursions are crazy expensive, keep reading they are sometimes not worth it. In the event one didn’t go to plan what did RCYC do to fix it? Refund? Partial refund?
Looking at one-night pre-cruise at The Edition for simplicity’s sake. Out of curiosity, and for the potential convenience, I asked my TA for the RCYC rate. I was quoted more than 3x as much as if I booked directly with the hotel or via my TA’s channel.
Any idea why? Is RCYC just hoping some folks won’t comparison shop? I was told the same benefits apply either way.
Just back from a 7-night sailing on the Evrima out of San Juan—our first time with the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and overall, it delivered a relaxed, upscale experience… with just a few quirks.
We booked a few weeks before sailing using a STARS promotion. In comparing options, some travel advisors offered onboard credit (sometimes as post-cruise rebates), but none came close to the value of the reduced-rate suite upgrade. We ultimately booked with a TA offering STARS perks (upgrade + $300 OBC) plus an additional $400 OBC.
We stayed in a Grand Suite and were very happy with the space—definitely worth the upgrade. Service started strong: our Suite Ambassador was warm and efficient, and unpacked our luggage while we were at lunch, which left a great first impression.
Food quality was consistently high—very much in line with a Ritz-Carlton hotel—and the included wines were excellent. That said, service across restaurants could be a bit inconsistent. At Mistral, there were a few moments where dishes took a scenic route before landing on the correct table.
One slightly amusing note: the food leans hard into “luxury.” Lobster and caviar appear frequently with enthusiasm. Even room service shrimp cocktail arrived topped with caviar, as if to say, “We will not be outdone, even at 2pm in your bathrobe.”
Dinner in the Evrima Room was a standout—elegant, well-paced, and reliably excellent. The dress code was relaxed: pants required for men, and beyond that, anything goes. Some guests leaned into full elegance with dresses and suits, while others kept it casual in T-shirts and khakis.
We skipped specialty dining, mostly because the interior, windowless space didn’t quite match the whole “we are literally surrounded by ocean” vibe.
The crowd skewed mostly straight, white American couples in their 40s–70s, with a few families and some international guests from Brazil, Mexico, and Germany. People were overwhelmingly friendly, though there were a handful of “do you know who I am?” personalities—easily identified by their love of speakerphone conversations in otherwise serene spaces.
Spring break brought more kids than usual. Some were charmingly precocious—quietly playing chess like tiny retired professors—while others were clearly bored.
From an accessibility standpoint, one notable gap: there’s no standard ramp for embarkation or disembarkation. Guests who have difficulty with stairs need to coordinate ahead to use an electric stair-climbing wheelchair. Once onboard, elevators were easy to access and generally uncrowded.
Entertainment exceeded expectations. Live music throughout the ship added a great ambiance, and Broadway star Nick Rashad Burroughs was genuinely impressive—fantastic voice, strong presence, and an intimate setting that worked really well.
Spa and salon services (booked in advance) were both excellent—relaxing, polished, and over-priced exactly how you’d expect when you’re floating in the Caribbean.
One small disappointment: the marina couldn’t open on marina day due to wind conditions. Totally understandable—but worth noting if you’re particularly excited about that feature.
Overall, Evrima delivers a polished, upscale experience with moments of genuine charm, occasional quirks, and enough caviar for most.
Just completed the Ritz Carlton Ilma cruise, visited Virgin Gorda, the beautiful St. Barths, St. Marteen (high winds) so we visited Peter'sIsland, and St. Thomas. This cruise was BY FAR the best cruise adventure we've experienced. EVERYTHING was 5 star!!!! Ship, Crew, Food, Drinks, Suites and entertainment. Ilma the FIRST 5 Star rated cruise line and it didn't disappoint. It wasn't your typical high energy, loud music vacation, but a more mature vibe. If we had to pick a favorite restaurant it would be Memori (ate there 2x and it was fantastic). It's a must try experience and will give you a different cruise prospective. We will definitely cruise Ritz again!
I miss the Asprey Purple Water Ritz days. We are boarding Ilma in a few weeks. We were curious if Diptyque products are what’s provided? If so, we will bring our Purple Water 😆. Anybody else miss Purple Water?
My fiance and I are debating booking our honeymoon on one of the RCY for next winter. It feels like a good fit for what we’re looking for. But my fiance has never been on a yacht/cruise situation and gets VERY sea sick on small boats (eg a speed boat in capri last summer).
Anyone prone to sea sickness who has gone aboard and either been 1) fine or 2) not fine?
For those who have sailed on both classes, do you have a preference?
I really enjoyed Luminara. I know the gym is bigger and there are more pools on the newer vessels, but some of my fellow shipmates who had been on Evrima preferred her.
I am looking forward to experiencing the first Ritz yacht at the end of summer.
Anyone booked into one of the two Iceland voyages in August? We are booked for August 13-18. Getting any detailed info from RCYC is excruciating. They either don’t answer questions or say they don’t know. Regret not booking thru a TA.
Some exclusive experiences that are offered during different voyages in 2026.
Dates for experiences:
April 7 | LUMINARA | Shanghai, China
May 21 | ILMA | Mykonos, Greece
June 1 | EVRIMA | St. Tropez, France
June 15 | EVRIMA | Ibiza, Spain
July 8 | EVRIMA | Edinburgh, Scotland
September 22 | EVRIMA | Mykonos, Greece
October 24 | ILMA | Marbella, Spain
The event that really has me excited is the Evening on the Firth of Forth in Edinburgh, Scotland. An evening dining at Barnbougle Castle. Seems like an absolute blast.
Barnbougle Castle opens its gates for an exclusive evening of history
Hi everyone. Anyone been on an Asia route this season? Wondering how cold it might be out on deck from Hong Kong to SIngapore in early February. Will I need to stay inside? Will I need a trench coat? Also wondering: is it too windy and cool to hang around in a bathing suit while on the way, or will I be able to use the pool on at sea days?
Hello everyone. For those who have been on Luminara or Ilma, are the rooms on Deck 6 above the Living room noisy at night? I like the idea of an extended deck, but not sure if DJ/live music will bother me until late at night. How late does the entertainment go on usually? Thanks for your input.
As background, I’ve been on about 40 cruises. I’m in my early 40s. As I’ve gotten older and been fortunate to have more disposable income, I’ve gravitated toward the higher end lines. Seabourn, Crystal (their expedition ship to Antarctica right before bankruptcy), Regent, Ponant (including Le Commandant Charcot) and Explora. I really enjoy expedition trips as for my preferences they offer more intriguing itineraries.
Accordingly, part of the reason I booked this trip was for the ports of call. I was also excited to give Ritz a try.
I am tough to please and sadly, very jaded, but this trip and RCYC exceeded my expectations. From start to finish the experience was first rate. Staff is unfailingly attentive. They are kind. Everyone remembers your name. The food was the best I’ve ever had on a ship. My room (Signature Suite) was well-designed and perfectly tended to by the suite ambassadors.
The embarkation in the Maldives was unique as you board via tender. Bags already in suite by the time I arrived which I don’t think I’ve ever had happen on a cruise.
The guest laundry was a welcome bonus as I am OCD and prefer to wash my workout clothes myself.
Gym is first rate. Spa is nice. Pricey but good experience.
The marina feature is so cool and fun to use. Throw in a jaw-dropping background and it’s even better.
I loathe ship tours but on the group versions I did there were a maximum of 7 other passengers and the excursions were remarkably pleasant. Private tours are eye-wateringly expensive. I only did one (to see an elephant preserve which due to worries about returning to vessel on time before it commenced two days at sea across the Bay of Bengal I wasn’t willing to risk planning on my own).
Fellow passengers were lovely and friendly. A great community. Younger demographic compared to the above-mentioned lines which surprised me given this was pre-holiday.
I would definitely sail RCYC and in fact booked another sailing while on board.
If you like casinos or big time entertainment this is not the line for you. If you enjoy relaxed days, intuitive service, and great food, I think you’ll enjoy RCYC.
