LORD OF THE MOSS FOREST 🕷️
Does this forest belong to him?
Or is he merely a fragile soul putting on a fierce face?

An extreme close-up completely detaches the insect from reality, turning it into an abstract, alien-like sculpture. A pulled-back shot, however, introduces environmental context. Seeing that vibrant green leaf-mimic sitting on a harsh, silver metal door threshold or a white painted frame creates an instant "brain spark" for the viewer. It grounds the creature in a recognizable human environment, making the image feel like an authentic, real-world encounter rather than a textbook illustration.

Caught some shots of this very large, invasive Chinese Mantis camped on our green beans last week.

Does anyone here take macro photos of aquarium inhabitants? Specifically small invertebrates like snails and shrimp. I’m brand new to the world of macro photography, and want to know how to get good photos of my pets! I have a clip on lens for my iPhone but struggle to get it to focus, and the resolution just isn’t there without it. Are clip on lenses enough, or do I need to invest in a better camera? (First photo is with the lens, the second is just my iPhone camera)

I bet you never stopped to take a closelook at a normal house fly! Just look at those eyes...

I was on a bug walk on my street, the one I’ve lived on for 8 years, and had never seen these before. It’s wild what shows up when you’re suddenly paying attention.

THE EIGHT-EYED KNIGHT 🕷️
A tiny fellow, perched upon a scrap of wood, watching the world through eight eyes.
Who knows? Perhaps he's watching the world. Or perhaps the world is watching him.

Feeling lucky to capture this colorful jumping spider enjoying a tiny queen ant on a pink azalea flower!
