funny I was listening to King Sorrow at work today...

...in the middle of Double Feature, and I looked up and saw a car with a green dragon painted on the side door pass by, painted like in the style of 1980s dark fantasy, very detailed. A large black dragon beautifully painted on the hood, just as detailed. But I got goosebumps all the same. Hell no, not this shit for real lmao.

I'm really enjoying this book; as a fan of King, I was like OH YEAH THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN MISSING. I can't wait to see what happens, but I also don't want the book to end.

I'm suspicious of Colin. There's something else going on with him.

Always one small thing that is throws me out of his books

I really like all the books so far, but there's always some little sticking point that drives me nuts. In NOS4A2 the guy drives over a hedgehog. In America. There are no hedgehogs in America. In King Sorrow they mention Nicosia Cypress at the end, but alas the country is Cyprus.
I feel like these are all points that an editor or fact checker should pick up. Also, possibly an issue, bur I might have missed it, in The Fireman the guy just knows ASL? ASL and BSL share less than 20% of the signs and the alphabet is totally different. Now maybe he happens to know, or only knows, ASL, but it totally caught my attention. I guess there is no money in having fact checkers any longer.

discussion (Bad Hand Books) The End Times newspaper issue #9

I know there have been problems with the USPS delivering the issues each month. Unfortunately, my #9 issue never arrived. It seems like it was pivotal in the story line, too. I've emailed Bad Hand four times over the last several weeks and have not received a reply. Any suggestions? I'd love the paper copy if someone would be willing to part with theirs. Or, barring that, is there a digital version available?

I've had this for about a dozen years and am hoping someone may know who the artist is, Joe signed it at a B&N signing in 2013.

spoilers King Sorrow Ending Question

Just finished King Sorrow and wanted some outside perspective on that last bit with Donna sacrificing herself. I thought if one of the six decided to take the place of the person chosen to die, that person would be spared. So when Donna drank the tears, why did King Sorrow still go after Gwen? Was it too late at that point? Or did I misinterpret that entirely?

What a fun read! I miss these characters already lol

But I seriously put the character building up there with IT and The Stand. This is one of my all time favorites. Well done sir.

discussion Horns Adaptation

Horns was my first introduction to Joe Hill. It had it's flaws, but I enjoyed the novel and it lead me to explore more of Joe Hill's work. I had heard that there was a movie, but I was hesitant to give it a watch as I was unsure on how it would translate to the screen. I finally watched it yesterday and honestly, it wasn't terrible. The cast was actually fairly stacked with some character actors that I recognized and the script was pretty solid. There were some items that were key to the plot that were left out as far as I could remember (It has been a while since I read the book) but overall, it was a fun ride. 5.5/10

I’m about half way through King Sorrow and I just wanted to say how amazing this book is. I haven’t read a Joe Hill book in years and that’s clearly a mistake. Heart Shaped Box is one of my all time favs.

discussion Worldbuilding in King Sorrow

Late to the party, but have just finished this and really liked it. I’ve seen some criticisms that the ‘worldbuilding’ in relation to magic was lacking - this was one of the things I loved about it. The fact that the characters were mostly in the dark about the true nature of what they were doing / attempting was one of the things that made it horrific. Thoughts?

Anyone else read at the gym? Sometimes I'm tempted to buy an e-reader specifically for workouts, but I'm staying strong.

Only marked as a spoiler because the page is readable, for anyone who hasn't read NOS4A2 yet.

spoilers Horns

I just finished Horns and one thing that has been throwing me off maybe I missed something.

At the end of the book when Glenna leaves her phone at The foundry and Ig uses it to call Lee, then he uses it to call the cops to get an ambulance for his brother.

1) how did Glenna call Lee and tip him off if Ig had the phone?

2) how is Glenna not implicated in everything that went on if her phone is at The foundry when the police show up and it was the phone that was used to make the call?

We have the best fans!

Quick post to say that we have the best fans! (I haven't met any Joe Hill fans that are turbodouchecanones - King fans yes, but not Hill) and my streak continues.

I won't name names, but a fellow Redditor hooked me up and got me the Hill House Comics slipcase and I couldn't be more appreciative! They're good people.

So thank you - you know who you are!
