Season 1-3 vs Season 4-8

I'm about to finish season 7.

So far I think the show has been pretty solid all around. But I much prefer the later seasons. I think the show works better without Brody and his family being part of the storyline. Just curious if anyone else thinks seasons 4-8 are better.

Great wrap

This is my first rewatch and to tell the truth it was as if I was watching the show for the very first time. A lot the things that happened in the show I saw with a new lens.

  1. Carrie is the personification of "for the greater good." I am very happy to say that I never got to hate her unlike most people here.

  2. The first time I watched the show, I didn't care much for Saul. Now I can say he's my favorite character second to Carrie.

  3. I also liked the use of Jazz in the show. I got the feeling it went well with the erratic nature of Carrie.

What I liked most was this sub. Even though I didn't post much, the few times I did they were critical of certain characters. If it was any other sub I would have been downvoted to oblivion. However, this sub seems to be tolerant of differing views.

Stopped the show when Quinn was done dirty

I stopped watching homeland last night at S4 where Quinn decided to go for the black op mission, i can't do it anymore. i draw the line at them doing Quinn dirty.

it hurts me so much to see him having hope for once and Carrie being unsure, i get

Carrie but c'mon she was in love with Brody for god's sake so why not our pookie quinn

hurt whoever you want but not Quinn

what an end! Finished the show today. Everything was worth it. Spoiler

Just finished the show, and my god! what an epic end, I really enjoyed every season but the one with president keane, I found that season particularly boring and the president keane rol was also super boring I even forwarded a bit when she showed up.. guilty..

But everything was worth it for the last season, it was in my books the best after season 1 and 2. And the end was freaking epic! And she also got to keep her russian hottie. Unlucky for frannie but I guess she never really loved her.

I already searched if there were any possiblity of having a season 9 but saw everywhere that 8 was the last one confirmed, so unlucky, would have loooove to see that russian espionaje with Carrie on the other side, they have so much material I can't believe they won't make another season, but it is what it is.

Recomendation on other similar shows are accepted, I need a loyal show to watch with plenty of episodes!

Cheers!

Adored Saul and Carrie's relationship. Anyone got any recommendations with a similar dynamic?

Genre and medium don't matter. I just finished the Homeland and the complexity of their relationship truly blew me away. The shit they put each other through, and they came back together every time. When Carrie says that bit about Saul having loved her (past tense) it had me in tears. When Saul got Carrie's message at the very end it had me in tears. The show was incredible outside of them as well of course, but they were really the backbone imo. They were both so ruthless to the cause, it was amazing to watch. UGH how will I ever get over this Series?

Does anyone else just adore Peter? I’m in season 6 and his character is the only reason I’m still watching.

im on season 6 now and wtf 😬

sorry but season 6 is garbage. its both boring and confusing. this isnt my favorite show but its been fun to watch so far. but im on ep 7 of season 6 and i might just stop watching.

first of all, if they wanted me to care about carrie losing custody then they should have made her show more than 1 ioata of care to here since her birth. when she called franny a strong girl i was genuinely like how can you be so truly gross. just a complete and total lack of empathy for a tiny child. i also do not understand why in the custody hearing it wasn’t brought up that carrie repeatedly abandons her child whenever something more exciting comes around. i get that carrie is supposed to be a bipolar 1 girl boss with only her gun and her heart to protect her from enemies of america, but like please her kid should have been taken from her years ago. i dont think that all women need to be mothers or maternal, but i would expect that people in general wouldnt be assholes to kids, at least not all the time, and carrie is a dick to kids all the time.

by this point its pretty clear that dar is scheming and im genuinely pissed. dar was probably my favorite character. i really felt his presence and he was complicated and mysterious. now hes this cartoon villain always raising his fucking eyebrow like what is this…… whyyyyyyy. and for what like because he is paranoid? just to be sneaky?

im going to watch this season but only while im cleaning or working out or something because i cannot stomach this.

Carrie is the worst character in TV history.

I'm on my second rewatch, and she truly is the worst. There are zero redeeming qualities about her.

Dana and Leo

OH MY GOD WHY IS THEIR DIALOGUE THE MOST CRINGEY SHIT OF THE SHOW? No teenager in the world talks like Leo. Dana’s new storyline pisses me off too, but her dialogue doesn’t feel as horrible. It’s the worst with Leo especially that scene in the car when Leo is driving with Dana and he says some in that performative whisper like “Here. Now. You me” or whatever I already forgot. And it just feels like he memorized words on a script and doesn’t know how to say them well. Maybe it’s not the actors fault cuz he was given a shitty script for his scenes. I haven’t found out Leo’s fate yet but I have a feeling he’ll be gone for good soon and I’ll be relieved.

Season 2 - Hit and Run

Why would the daughter of the victim take hush money? They would probably get a 7 figure payout from a civil trial. All you need is a couple of traffic cam photos and some testimony from an autoshop employee.

Dumb choice, she probably only got a month or two of hush money.

A Subtle Favorite Moment

During season 1 when FBI agent Hall says to Carrie "let me ask you something, have you ever been in firefight" and Carrie with like disgust at the question and no hesitation at all just says "yeah" and he just sits their for a second. Just the acting and the like "is that a serious question" tone in Carries response hypes me up lmao

tried playing the you're a women you don't know what it's like to be in the line of fire card and used that card against the wrong person.

My review about Carrie

First 2 episodes and last 2 episodes were good...

Middle parts kinda boring...

Though it give forces to think about the grey zones of religion and God..

Interesting character was Margaret White...one lady strong yet flawed.

Carrie is shown kind but never stepped back from vengeance.

Overall a good binge watch

I don't get this show's logic

I'm in season 8 already and I noticed that government always doubt Saul and Carrie when they've been saving their asses for 7 seasons. They still treat them as someone who will betray their country. They even doubted Carrie when she returned from being held captive by Russians but when Brody came back after many years he was a hero. Make it make sense. I know it's a series but logic doesn't make sense.

Ugly baby

Just watching this show for the first time and up to season 4

Why did they cast that little abomination as the baby? Is it meant to have fas? Or like be an alien?

I actually might not be able to finish the episode let alone the series of that little cretin appears on my screen again

Rewatching for first time

Currently on Season 3. Last night I finished Episode 10, "Good Night." It is so stressful watching Brody. Knowing what is just around the corner. Hearing him tell Carrie "I know you'll figure something out to get me out of here!" Their love story is the hardest, most beautiful, thrilling, sad and tragic one I have ever watched on any screen.

Just finished watching s6-7, then read about the Ukraine strike on a Russia bot centre and the affect on Russia mentions online.

Tl;dr- Irl, Ukraine bombs a Russian chat bot centr- a large amount of pro Russian disocurse on social media vanishes instantly. Most of the stuff in homeland is so fucking cool bc it’s actually how shit works.

**

I really really love how everything in homeland is just so smart in that depressing geopoltics/global developmental studies/ sociology/psychology sort of way.

Or like.. the shows impressive lol.

They called pulling out of Afghanistan accurately before it happened in s4

They do a what if Joe Rogan arc in season 6 before Joe was as influential.

How you could use the body language of s1-3 to accurately study the behaviour physiology of mental illness.

Anyways, I just finished reason 6/7.

Bots.

So anyways, this is in the news today, which is cool; yet another thing homeland did beautifully, where please note this entire post is vague to avoid spoilers.

Carrie Spoiler

Is Carrie supposed to be a likeable character?

I was kind of always on the fence until season seven where it's clear she is a dog shit parent. For me, the way she treats her daughter is the final straw. I hope the "bad guys" get her later in the series.

My thoughts after finishing Homeland (spoilers) Spoiler

Warning - spoilers ahead. Do not read if you haven't completed Homeland in it's entirety.

Thanks to Netflix I finally jumped into Homeland - before I had avoided it since it reminded me of the ME wars I grew up with in high school, just was too familiar. But now I felt I was ready. And what a ride it was — full of depth, they covered the period with super interesting storylines, great characters and a Sorkinesque level dialogue.

I have to admit it was one hit after the other towards the end. I loved it, but wished they all had a few more happy scenes. I couldn't believe Brody was actually killed (same with all the others we loved, Quinn/Max/etc) but was glad he came back for that one scene/memory/hallucination of Carrie's. It was comforting, in a way. I wished the same for Quinn but I like to think he remains the 'beacon on the ridge' lighting her way. F Dar. Saul will always be amazing. And my heart was ripped to shreds with Max.

There was enough happy moments though, what a finalé, the show is close to perfect in my eyes. I'm glad we can think of Saul and Carrie working together into the future and she is his new lady in Moscow (what a twist!). I was sad the other lady had to kill herself but that Carrie could serve in her place was something else for an ending.

Some of the stories felt like they were ripped from today, with choice narratives about Iran I found very relevant to current news. And the German bomb train scenes were insane. So was the presidents' death, another shocker.

The intelligence work was spectacular. I loved Haqqani and how they put a face on those who have committed terrorism and looked at America with skepticism and depth in how we're seen abroad; how in spite of our mistakes there are those trying to do good. And Carrie. She just always saved the day, it's hard not to love her.

Now I just hope the renewed interest from Netflix (how I started watching, I assume it's way up) somehow results in more Homeland! Has anyone read the original material? And does anyone have recs for what to watch next?

Carrie would never write like this

I just noticed this from S3E01. Carrie’s lawyer is looking at her notebook during the Senate hearing. I’d like to think Carrie would never write “loose his own life,” even in her crazy notebook
