Hello everyone! With the US elections in just a few weeks we are all bracing for a flood of posting about liberal progressives and socdems along with the usual trickle of "republicans bad" posts.
As such we have determined that this the time for a few reminders;
\1. This is an international sub. Please ensure that all US politics are flaired as "USA"
2.Posts about socialist movements and socialist candidates are welcome, as are posts about the relationships of socdems and progressives to local socialists movements.
Example good posts: * Melat Kiros speaks on embracing the socialist label * Talrico speaks on his relationship with the DSA * New Poll for Mai Vang shows...
\3. Posts that are purely about speeches, statement, electoral polls, or other "general news" about progressive and socdem candidates will be removed as "unrelated to democratic socialism and leftism". No we don't care about Talarico, he's not a socialist. Neither is Abdul El-Sayed.
Example bad posts: * New poll for Talarico shows... * Abdul El-Sayed campaign speech video post * Hakeem Jeffries on the 'blue tsunami' the dems are expecting"
For your reference this is the list of socialist-endorsed candidates running for the US congress. If you are aware of other socialist candidates for federal office please let us know: * Rashida Tlaib * Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez * Chris Rabb * Melat Kiros * Darializa Avila Chevalier * Claire Valdez * Donavan McKinney * Angela Gonzales Torres * Mai Vang * Lauren Jewett

Iām active in my union. Iām casual friends with a colleague. We like the same sports teams and talk mostly about that. I think Iād reasonably call him a fairly low information voter.
I found out he voted for trump in 2024. I think he got caught up in whatever algorithm made him think that was a good idea. It fucking pissed me off but I held my tongue and just listened to why. Then I calmly explained why I didnāt. I tried really hard not to come off as some angry leftist whoās name calling and talking down to him. Even though I wanted to because of how upset I was about the election.
Later that year we went on strike. I found out the night before that he was strongly considering crossing the picket line because he didnāt want to lose wages and didnāt really understand why he should have to miss work.
I called him and tried so hard not to talk down to him again (even though it also pissed me off) but to explain to him why it was important he be there with us. This only worked because we had an existing relationship built on talking about sports.
He didnāt show up on the line but he didnāt cross either.
His union ended up getting a sizeable raise. He saw the impact not just on him but on the people around him he cares about. He started learning more about how unions work and the history of labor organizing.
The other day I saw him with his union shirt on. He goes āyou know, if you never wouldāve taken the time to explain it to me, I donāt think I wouldāve cared.ā It fucking made my week. I swear Iām not making this up.
Look, this online bubble is garbage. Those of you who actually organize in person know this.
Not everyone is lost. Build personal relationships. Give people the opportunity to grow. Be a beacon in your community. Letās not squander our momentum.
I am open to my thinking continually evolving and I probably havenāt fully thought this through. But honestly at this point Iām starting to feel like Iām just philosophically anti cancel culture. I donāt really care what most people thought or did or said in the past. Iām not writing them off. If theyāre here with me in class struggle even if the rest of their views arenāt perfect yet I accept that.

Early voting starts today in Texas, and everyone needs to make a plan to vote, help those without transportation, and give them a ride to the polls. I picked up two friends and brought them along with me. Letās go, team Talarico and team Hinojosa!! Itās time to hold the Billionaire and Epstein class accountable! South Texas needs to vote out Monica DeLaCruz and elect Bobby Pulido as our next Representative. ššš

Justice for Maricarmen Abascal! Ms. Abascal was murdered by the Spanish state for the crime of refusing to leave her home of many decades. After a judge ordered her to be evicted, her home was stormed by riot police who forcibly removed her. She died days later from the trauma.
All eyes on Europe, which has become the weak link in the chain of world imperialism! Victory to the revolution in France! The world faces a stark choice: socialism, or barbarism.
Workers of every country, unite!

Americaās richest exploit estate tax loopholes, shell corporations, trusts, and other sophisticated methods of shielding their accumulated fortunes from taxation. This has accelerated the accumulation of wealth (and power) in the hands of a few individuals while entrenching oligarchic dynasties.
According to IPS research, Americaās 50 wealthiest family dynasties together held $1.2 trillion in assets in 2020. By comparison, the bottom half of all U.S. households (an estimated 65 million families) shared a combined total wealth of just twice that, at $2.5 trillion. The five wealthiest dynasties (the Walton, Koch, Mars, Lauder, and Cargill-MacMillan families) saw their wealth increase by a median 2484% from 1983 to 2020.

More than 6000 prominent Jews and Zionists have signed an open letter rejecting the genocide accusation against Israel, describing it as āthe latest blood libel to be inflicted on the Jewish peopleā.
Jews signing an open letter stating that accusations against the colony are accusations against "the Jewish people" reflect Zionism's claim that the colony represents all Jews worldwide. Quite counterproductively, this lays the ground for exactly what the signatories pretend to oppose: Holding Jews accountable for Israel's actions. Indeed, Zionism is a leading cause, quite certainly our era's leading cause, of blood libels against Jews.
Of course, Zionism's danger to Jews should not eclipse its danger to its primary victimsāPalestinians and other societies in Al-Sham. But it does show that Jews fighting to dismantle the Jewish state and establish one democratic Palestinian state are not just displaying solidarity with Palestine, they are acting in self-defense.
It also shows that Palestinians' insistence that we fight Zionism, not Jews or Judaism, is not meant to appease our oppressors. Quite the contrary, it is meant to challenge Zionism's foundational claimsāto confront it fully. The vision for One Democratic State is also a platform that unites us with our natural allies against our common enemy.
These efforts, however, must not be limited to discourse. The One Democratic State Initiative is working to organize efforts, in Palestine and worldwide, to dismantle the settler state and establish its antithesis: A state that deals with society as citizens, not tribes. We call on you to join our efforts.
