Video This is the largest single-building pig farm in the world. At 26 storeys high, it can slaughter 1.2 million pigs per year. It was built in Ezhou, China, to help the country's exploding demand for pork. Pork is China's most popular meat, with the country consuming nearly half of global pork demand.

Milk and eggs require the suffering of animals though.

This is true. But vegetarianism is still many many times better than the "standard" diet that contains meat. Do what you can!

Doing what you can means going vegan

It's not. Vegetarians just have a diet. If you care for the animals veganism is the only way.

I don't care what you do, but dont lie to yourself

You know what, you're absolutely right. I'm vegetarian, but I guess I'll just go back to eating meat too. Thank you for opening my eyes.

How is it better? You’re just covering your eyes. If it’s morally wrong to eat meat, it’s morally wrong to eat meat by products.

Hell by your logic you should cut out animal biproducts and keep eating meat if you can only make one change. Since animals are treating soooo much worse in milk and egg preparation than in slaughter. Unless forced rape pregnancies and abortions are less morally wrong than treating an animal well until you kill and eat it

Yall have too much time to get riled up over non-statements.

I just hate the logic of “being better”. If it’s morally wrong to eat animals to you, doing any of that act is full stop wrong. You don’t murder less than you did yesterday and have that be a win. You don’t abuse your spouse less than you did yesterday and have that be a win.

Moral incongruity is annoying

In a completely different scale

look up actual conditions of egg farms. chickens end up in worse conditions with worse fates

u/Due-Train-7874 Sep 08 '26

On nearly the exact same scale actually. And the treatment of animals for their milk is 100x worse than the treatment of animals for their meat

u/ExcitingMushroom9514 Sep 08 '26

Exactly the same scale. Read up.

It's worse

Milk and eggs require the suffering of animals though.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Everything we do to exist in this modern world requires the exploitation of resources, living or otherwise. The best we can do is to reduce the amount of exploitation and harm we participate in to a degree that is both practical and coherent with our ethics.

Give it a rest. People try. Eggs and milk are pretty easy to source ethically.

More ethically, but remember they do require the deaths of male calves and chicks.

But I agree that we could all do a little better and still make an impact without giving up too much.
