Video This is the largest single-building pig farm in the world. At 26 storeys high, it can slaughter 1.2 million pigs per year. It was built in Ezhou, China, to help the country's exploding demand for pork. Pork is China's most popular meat, with the country consuming nearly half of global pork demand.

So many ignorant people pretending ‘regular’ farms are superior to vertical farms which are born out of necessity to feed people.

"Necessity" is the wrong word, it's much easier to feed the population with plants, but people like bacon, so we do it in the most wasteful way, which is also barbaric.

this looks way more efficient than raising them in large open areas with growth hormones free diet

lol is this a rhetorical question? China has 4.5X the population of the next most populated country (America) and they simply don’t have enough flat plains and land to sustain the required livestock. This is the most effective means to raise livestock per land use and they can clean and filter out the waste at a single source point. If this makes you feel bad then don’t look up any chicken farms where the chickens never see sunlight or shrimp ponds or any diary or cattle farms. Unless this makes you feel bad just because it’s ‘China’.
