FOR HIRE Any local filmmakers/production companies looking for help?

I'm a semi-recent college graduate looking to get my foot in the door in the film industry. Stuck working in food service since graduation but would like to move towards getting a job in a field I actually like. Looking to bolster my resume and create some local connections to hopefully lead to greater opportunities down the line. From PA work to manual labor, I’ll do whatever work may be needed if it means I get to spend time on a film set. If you or someone you know might be interested in working with someone like me, please feel free to reach out! I can provide my resume and references, as well as anything else you may need!

HIRING Meals on Wheels Central Texas is hiring a Volunteer Services Coordinator. $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, full-time, non-exempt, hybrid eligible.

Meals on Wheels Central Texas is hiring a Volunteer Services Coordinator. $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, full-time, non-exempt, hybrid eligible.

This is a details job.

You’ll be tracking volunteer applications at a several different stages, scheduling match calls and speaking with potential volunteers, chasing background check paperwork, keeping a database accurate, and answering a steady stream of phone calls and emails from people who want to help. We are really looking for someone who has a very keen eye for details and who follows up without being reminded.

It’s a good entry point into nonprofit work.

Make sure to translate similar work in a different industry to a non-profit environment. Admin and or customer service experience is beneficial.

Write a cover letter or tell us why you are interested in the application.

It isn’t required, but we will read every one that comes in. A few paragraphs on why this work interests you and how your background lines up will do more for your application than anything else you can control. This is especially true if you’re changing industries.

Hybrid.

Real hybrid (2 days remote, 3 office/fieldwork), with a split between home and our Austin location on E 5th St. Occasional local travel, occasional nights and weekends for volunteer events.

Apply through our ADP career center: https://workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default/mdf/recruitment/recruitment.html?cid=acfdfd39-2dea-46e7-bc95-30350c786f7c&ccId=19000101_000001&lang=en_US&jobId=25775

QUESTION Worst Austin restaurants to work for!?

Alright guys so I actually did a little forum asking which where the best (still would love to hear some opinions! Especially if yours is hiring, domain area/soco/ South Austin preferred ;))

But now I want to ask, which are some bad ones you have worked for?! And why? For me personally I’ve heard some awful things about Perry’s haha maybe the money is there but considering they have a lawsuit ongoing about employee tips missing or whatever I kind of believe that. But I want to hear more opinions especially from some fellow server/bartenders .

HIRING Need a Person With A Unique Set of Skills

Get your minds out of the gutter!

I am the owner of a number of vending machines in the Austin area. They are National 222 Cigarette Vending machines (aka the REALLY OLD CIGARETTE MACHINES YOU REMEMBER IN BOWLING ALLEYS!)

I need a reliable tech who is familiar with these machines to assist me in keeping them running. It's electrical stuff. Sometimes it's mechanical stuff. Sometimes I need another set of hands to help me move them!

This wouldn't be a full-time gig, or even reliably part-time. We're just not that big, and the margins just aren't something that supports that. What I will offer is a high enough rate that when I call and ask can you meet me at "location x"-you'll be happy to do that! And I won't bog you down and pay a pittance per hour. IF it's a problem I'm having, and you can fix it for $100 in ten minutes, or I could pay you $20 an hour for five hours--I'd rather pay you the $100 and not waste your day.

There might come a day when I just ask you to ride along with me and fix whatever we encounter. At that-we'd work out a rate you're comfortable with-fair? Pay is cash on completion, regardless.

I’ve recently moved back to Round Rock after wrapping up a contract position with FEMA. My background includes experience working within public service across federal and state levels, including work with DHS and state agencies.

As I re-establish my network in the area, I’m seeking guidance on local opportunities in public administration, emergency management, or state/municipal government roles.

If anyone has advice on:

-Key local or regional job portals/agencies to monitor

-Tips for navigating state/city public sector application processes

-Local networking groups or professional associations

...I would be very grateful for your input. Thank you for your time and insights!

FOR HIRE 26M felon seeking apprenticeship or OJT or contract/gig work

I currently work in food but only bring home ~$1400/mo and am seeking a proper introduction to an actual career path rather than trying on dead-end jobs like new clothes. It was the work I could find coming out of prison this past Spring and, although I settled on it to have an income and stay compliant with parole, it just isn't sustainable. My grandparents agreed to help me get back on my feet but I need a stable job so I don't have to lean too much on my people. I hate to burden the ones I treasure most, and I feel like I'll always be a small headache for them and everyone else in my family until I can get a job where I'm not one paycheck away from homelessness.

Coming from a history of food and retail, I've always been on the front lines navigating the customer-merchant experience and satisfying folk of various temperaments and upbringings. I'm quite tolerant of people from every walk, naturally having an open-mind and having been incarcerated myself, so I don't let politics, race or religion color my perspective or the way I treat people.

I pride myself in my work ethic and eagerness to learn and master new interests. And I believe in measuring twice and cutting once, but I partially blame my OCD for my sharp eye. Yes, that means I'm a perfectionist. And I don't believe in coming to work with a bad attitude, so I weather the storm and fake it till I make it if I have to. Stoicism and optimistism are the only options.

Even though I'm experienced in food and retail and other aspects of customer service, I'm open to exploring welding, electrical, CAD/CNC, and possibly Green Construction/Weatherization. These are my interests first and foremost, but I'm willing to learn to work on cars or do plumbing or pest control too.

If I sound like someone you'd like to hire or see hired, or if you can think of some opportunities which may be up my alley and will equip me for an independent future, please feel free to comment or DM. Thank you.

EDIT: I have two man/del charges and a thc possession misdemeanor
