Hey all! I am traveling Sept 18-28ish. I live in 78704 near Radio and have two wonderful cats that I love dearly. I have tried the local drop-in sitting services and the more serious live-in sitting services (trusted house sitters, etc.), and I can only ask my friends to cat sit so often (I am traveling quite a bit this year and they have stepped up already).
Any fellow cat lovers that would up for an exchange? Just looking for a daily drop-in (small list of duties such as litter scoop, a wet food feeding, and fountain refill, and maybe some porch time) and if you are so inclined, maybe hanging out with them for a few hours as well. I have had cats my whole life so I think I would be a great sitter for your little fur babies in return.
If anyone is interested please let me know. Happy to chat more to see if it would be a good fit. I figure that in all of South Austin there must be someone else that would also prefer a cheaper and more loving cat sitting service via mutual exchange :). Thank you!
Also, if you cannot do all 10 days, I am happy to pay someone for the other days or bother a friend again.
---------
09/07 UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your kind and generous response!! Really heartening to see the community rally like this <3. I have been getting email notifications about all of the replies but have finally had a chance to sit down and reach through them.
I am going to reach out to some of the folks that said they are are in or around 78704 first so that I can get sitting sorted for myself, but then will share some kind of Google tracker and/or start a whatsapp group!
I do appreciate folks from all around offering support -- it is very kind. I am not sure if I plan to extend whatever group I do create to outside of S Austin just for practicalities sake. I think ideally doing this exchange will mean the person is nearby so that there is as little friction as possible for both providing and receiving sit services, emergency situations, familiarity with the neighborhood, etc.

I need a space to put up a tent long-ish term and I'm hoping someone has a corner of land on a lot somewhere (or even just a backyard) or could point us in the direction of somewhere safe.
My partner and I have been on the ECHO housing waitlist for 2.5 years. We are not interested in shelters. All of the shelters are currently full, and even if they weren't... I had previously stayed at the 8th St Women's shelter. While a resident there, I was assaulted and kidnapped from 6th St and held hostage for several days. So... I left the shelter. That's when I began staying in the woods.
Then my first arrest happened. My partner and I were arrested (along with 25 others) this last February for having a camp set up in the woods. We received no warnings, and there were no signs posted on the property. State Troopers came in at 7am and cleared us out. We were all blanket charged with Criminal Trespass and a State Jail Felony of Illegal Dumping. Driving the homeless more into homelessness, it seems. Thankfully, both charges were dismissed.
I'd like to get back some sense of normalcy in my life, and for us that will begin with stable housing or just a stable place to set up camp... because right now, waking up, packing up, moving camp, figuring out a meal, a shower, clean laundry, finding a new spot to camp, and laying down said camp, and everything in between is a full days work.
We are both really quiet individuals, and you could expect little to no foot traffic. We don't hoard items, and are very clean and respectful of our living area (always leaving places better than we found it). We don't have any pets, and don't have many belongings at all, in fact.
We are willing to exchange any sort of physical labor - building, moving, cleaning, etc - or any sort of task one might need around the property or elsewhere.
He has experience in building houses, repairing vehicles, and is a brilliant guitar player. I am a well seasoned software engineer, really enjoying tinkering with anything tech (building hardware), and am a great cook.
Thanks in advance!

I installed a dual system Android head unit in my 2017 Mazda 3 (dual system meaning the original CMU is still wired up as well and I can use the new screen to access both the Android OS and the OEM UI) and it mostly works great, but one big problem I’ve had is with the audio. The audio in my car has always been messed up so I replaced all the speakers with higher end ones and now it sounds significantly better but it has an annoying crackle or electrical hum which seems like a ground loop.
It gets substantially louder when there’s nothing plugged into the Aux port which is one of the reasons I think it’s maybe some sort of ground loop issue, but honestly, at this point I’m lost and tired of trying to fix this. The car audio shops nearby has been kind but they aren’t familiar with Android head units so they couldn’t offer much help.
If I could find someone local who could help me with this I could offer a bit of money in exchange for your time. I probably need someone who’s pretty familiar with Android head units / car electronics etc. I already replaced the entire aux / usb port unit and that didn’t fix the issue.
Thank you!

RESOLVED 💛
Someone just helped me replace the battery in my 2016 Audi, but they didn't have the tool to do a BMS reset. Got the battery from AutoZone, but they couldn't even install it because they don't have it either.
Is there anyone in south Austin who could help me with this really quick? I've read that it only takes a couple of minutes. I can come to you this evening or first thing tomorrow morning. Happy to bring you a 6-pack of your choice, some coffee, or Venmo/CashApp/Zelle $10 for your time. I'm in a tough spot financially and can't afford much more...
I already had to throw down a pretty penny to get to this point. Likely could've saved some money, but I didn't know what I was doing.
I'm not confident that this post belongs here, but it was removed from r/austin and said it should be posted here.
Edit to add: the tool needed is an OBDeleven ir VCDS—not an OBD II scanner

Hey y’all
I’m a former Austinite who could use some help figuring out a ride back and forth from downtown Austin to College Station.
Myself and 3 friends are going to the A&M football game on Sep 12th versus my school ASU. FWIW this is on my birthday and the day after my buddies birthday.
I’ve looked online and found some options but the are less than ideal. For example hitch might work but we would need an XL ride instead of private ride I believe because there’s 4 total instead of 3. (If someone knows 4 people will work for a private ride please LMK)
So at this point I thought I’d see if anyone would like to arrange a private ride for this round trip event.
The game starts at 11 AM and should last about 3 hours. So all in all this would be an arrangement leaving around say 7 am (so we have time before) and coming back say about 5 pm.
If anyone is interested in discussing driving us in their own vehicle or would prefer I rent a car, I could do that too. I could even drive the first half, I just know we would need someone to drive us back.
Please DM to discuss this more and please share any ideas yall might have outside of this private ride.

I'm a semi-recent college graduate looking to get my foot in the door in the film industry. Stuck working in food service since graduation but would like to move towards getting a job in a field I actually like. Looking to bolster my resume and create some local connections to hopefully lead to greater opportunities down the line. From PA work to manual labor, I’ll do whatever work may be needed if it means I get to spend time on a film set.
If you or someone you know might be interested in working with someone like me, please feel free to reach out! I can provide my resume and references, as well as anything else you may need!
(Picked what I thought might be the most relevant flair?)

I'm looking for a recommendation for someone who can rebuild a small backyard deck. Under 300sq ft. Ours is pretty much falling apart, so we're looking to tear it out and replace it with something simple.
Would love recommendations for a good, reasonably priced local contractor or carpenter. We’re in South Austin in the Sendera / Maple Run area. Thanks!!

Howdy Y’all,
This last week, my now-former landlord (55M) and I mutually decided to end my lease early and so now I’m searching for a new place more up-north that will put me closer to my family and work. Thankfully, I have good people in my life who are allowing me to stay with them while I figure things out but I’m hoping to find a new place in the next month or so.
Ideally, I’m looking to live with guy(s) my own age with similar/compatible lifestyles and attitudes— someone I can maybe actually be friends with and not just begrudgingly share a living space. My ideal budget lies somewhere between $600-825 a month (that’s for everything included— please don’t surprise me and tack on additional utility costs after we’ve already established what the expected cost is supposed to be— a few guys did that last year and not only was it really annoying but also a waste of everyone’s time.)
So a little about me: I’m an artist and photographer— I’ve been taking photos in the local music scene for what’s coming on 5 years at the end of this month. I’d consider myself a true ambivert in that I value time to myself but also appreciate sharing meaningful time with others. Monday-Friday I work full-time as a test pilot for a local startup tech company near the domain, alongside my best-friend/former roommate (we lived together back at another place, not this last one that I just moved out of.)
I don’t have any pets, but I love animals and don’t at all mind if you have them and will gladly help take care of them as needed.
Not looking to live with any neat-freaks, but also not looking to live with total slobs. Just someone who is average/responsible-enough in terms of tidiness that our place should look mostly reasonable most of the time. So… really, I just want a bachelor pad.
I’m also hoping to find someone who is straightforward in terms of communication— I’ve just gotten to the point that I no longer tolerate unspoken expectations or passive-aggressive hostility— I’d much rather you be confrontational because I can at least respect that, and also it means we can actually address any issues constructively. So if you’re the type who’s afraid to speak your mind about expectations or be vocal about an issue when there’s a problem— then I would kindly ask you not to reach out.
I also don’t tolerate bigotry on any level, so if you’re a racist, incel/misogynist, homophobe, or harbor beliefs in anti-Semitic conspiracies, etc.— then kindly fuck off.
But yeah, if you’re just a chill, semi-responsible, and somewhat outgoing dude (or dudes) in your 20s, who is looking for someone to share a space and split rent: then I’m your dude— please reach out.
(Also, MODS, sorry for using the seeking service flair— for some reason the seeking housing flair is not available on mobile, otherwise I would have selected that. Wasn’t my intention to flair incorrectly but it’s all I could do right now.)

This leg on my dresser snapped and I’ve been really frustrated trying to fix it. I’m pretty bummed since I just got this off Facebook and it was perfect before this happened, so if someone can fix it in a way that it won’t break again I’d be willing to pay them $50. Located near the far west HEB. It isn’t a perfectly clean snap and some small pieces fell out that I couldn’t recover. I tried a brace but it didn’t really work, which I assume is due to poor placement on my end. Thanks!
The repair would have to be at my house I think - the dresser is heavy as hell and it broke due to moving in the first place.

Pictures attached, I would think it would be a good job for a teenage boy who wants to earn extra money. (Disclaimer does not have to be a teenager, this isn’t meant to be a creepy request. I just find that usually teenagers like to mow lawns for spending money because it’s so small and it’s not a hard job. Anyone professionally who would come out would laugh because it almost wouldn’t be worth their time.)

I already have a parking pass near stadium and my concert ticket. My bestie, and ride to the concert, had a family emergency, is no longer able to attend concert and was my ride. I’m a female and unable to drive long distances. In order to attend concert, I would appreciate a ride with another ARMY going to the concert from the Austin area. I’ll pay for gas, we can use my parking pass too. I was signed up for a Rally Bus but it was cancelled. DM if interested.

Hello (yes, I am cross posting this for more visibility!)
I’m trying to get ahead of the game and schedule some fall pictures for my family! There are so many options for photographers online it can be overwhelming…. So I figured I would ask y’all!
Ideally located in South Austin - I don’t have any locations in mind, but anything outside would be preferred, maybe in hill country?! Open to suggestions!
We have 2 little ones (3 yo & 3 months) so anyone experienced working with kids (and having patience) would be great! Please drop any suggestions below!
Thanks in advance!

I have a pair of antique metal equestrian stirrups. I'm certain that they aren't Silver, but would like to test with an xrf to determine the metal contents.
Need someone with an xrf gun specifically, the item is fragile and oddly shaped so I don't feel comfortable putting it into a machine to test.
Any help is appreciated, please comment here if you/ someone you know is willing and able to test.
Thank you.

Hi there, I was in Houston this weekend visiting family and drove back early today. I drove my parent’s car and I accidentally brought their car keys with me (push to start car). I’m wondering if anyone would be kind and help me out by taking the keys to Houston and they can pick them up from you. I will be so so grateful!!

I bought these new perforated leather Katzkin covers and want to install them myself, however before doing so I want to also install a ventilation system underneath.
Unfortunately, I just found out that in addition to perforated leather the foam underneath should be reticulated / open cell foam.
I have no experience with sewing and am not sure of the safest way to swap this to reticulated foam so if there’s someone who’s willing to do this service for 2 full seats (driver/passenger side) please let me know as well as how much it would cost as I’m on a budget. Can buy the replacement foam myself if preferred.
All the parts attached to the foam are genuine leather if that matters for the labor amount.
Thanks!

I know this is a long shot but thought it was worth a try.
I’m in need of a mechanic for my 2005 Honda Civic. Would anyone out there be willing to do a trade for services deal or partial trade/partial cash?
I’m a personal chef and caterer. I can cater events (Christmas parties, etc.), create grazing tables, do private dinner service or family drop off meals among other things.
If you’re interested in discussing some options, just to see if it’s something that might work, just send me a DM. Thanks!
