All of them. I rarely ever eat out anymore and think "wow, that was really worth the cost."

Olive Garden for 2 people and a 14 month old without ordering any wine was 89.44 last week... wtf??

honestly the only places that feel worth it nowadays are the Mexican places where you can get a packed burrito or tostadas with sides for like 10-12$. everything else just leaves me feeling broker and like crap

Yeah, my local Taqueria I can get a plate of five fully loaded tacos (like it's just heaping the meat) for $25 and that includes tip and drink and I always get the upcharged Lengua or Cabesa. If I stuck with the normal meat, it'd be like $20 with tip and drink.

And five of those babies leaves me stuffed.

They serve a nine dollar burrito that would make Chipotle hand it's head in shame.

You have to have shame first. God chipotle fucking SUCKS now

Is that in the US?

It sounds like that because that would be actually rather in the expensive side here in Mexico (unless is some hipster taqueria in a fancy neighborhood in Mexico City).

Here I can get a meat monstrosity that could feed two regular folks for like 7USD in my local popular taqueria. “Tacos de cabeza” rarely go up more than 1USD per taco (but they are rather small). The most expensive tacos are the asada ones (those can be from 2-4USD per taco) and that because beef got crazy expensive lately.

Yeah, Minnesota. It's the higher cost of living combined with high operations cost of running a restaurant.

Local Mom and Pop Mexican restaurants are the best. You can tell that the people that usually work in places like this are vested in the business and genuinely care about good service and quality, whereas chains typically employ folks who just have the timeclock punching attitude.

I lived in California for 15 years so I’m spoiled for great mom and pop Mexican food.

I now live in Grand Rapids MI, and was delighted (and shocked as hell) to find great mom and pop Mexican here too. Even Costco sells cases of Jarritos here. And I found a great Supermercado.

The only thing I’m missing is a tamale person coming to my office weekly with a cooler full. I would sell my soul for that.

My family eats at Mexican restaurants 90% of the time. Cost is too good.

Agree. Lunch specials can be found for $8.99. Cheaper than fast food.

Chinese and Mexican food. Only times I ever feel like I get my moneys worth.

I still stand by Texas Roadhouse. I've never had a bad meal there, I've had just fine meals but generally on the side of good meal. The prices don't feel too outrageous for what you're getting.

The texas RH by where I use to live was excellent, the one by there I live now has become hot garbage. Last time I went, I was wondering id management changed or something, the food did not look the same, even the portions, fries were horrible. Menus and tables were sticky.

Texas Roadhouse always busy because their prices are cheaper than their competitors… Logan’s, Outback, longhorn.

I think it's roughly $18 here for the 6oz sirloin, half rack of ribs, and two sides. Plus Texas Roadhouse knows how to cook their food well. It's one of the few chains I'll buy a steak at and not need/want to put A1 on it.

When a meal at McDonald's runs you $10 for some garbage food it really does look like a deal. Their customer service is always above average at a minimum too.

You can go to Texas Roadhouse and it isn't much more than a burger and fries from 5 Guys

They serve a solid steak. You can do better, but you'll have to spend a lot more money.

The one in Spokane WA is utter trash. I have been there at least 5 times ( damn relatives love the place) and i am pretty sure if have seen every way possible to fuck up a ribeye.

It must be your location because it’s horrible here.

Where did you go, Time Square? You had to have got the most expensive entrees on the menu to level out to that price.

Hibachi place near my house PACKS the containers. It's 3 days of food for $11. All we could talk about was the insane value. Also the hibachi is pretty good.

I wish my local hibachi place did the same but they raised prices and shrunk portions. I could understand serving less protein but they've started even skimping on the rice/noodles.

How? Olive garden with my wife and I is about $30-40ish... That sounds like a skill issue

5

u/Som_Dtam_Dumplings 6h ago

Umm...thats almost 90$. I have some questions about what you ordered; because when my wife and I go there, I don't think we're even spending 60$. Is your 14 month old getting 40$ worth of food? Did you both order the most expensive items on the menu? Were there lots of appetizers/desserts?

I need more information to determine if I'm just a cheapskate, or if y'all are ordering a ton more food than my wife and I.

(To be clear, even 60$ seems like Olive Garden has hiked their prices...so I'm not saying you're definitely wrong. Just that my experience isn't that pricey)

For me Olive Garden has been a good deal lately. With the never ending pasta and my military discount I get salad, breadsticks, big plate of pasta and a meal to bring home and a drink for like $17 with tip

On the flip side, I found a local Taiwanese place that does lunch for $12, and an awesome burger joint for $16 with fries and a shake.

Olive garden is another good answer for this post. They could be worse, but they've been better.

2

u/allothernamestaken 5h ago

Damn how much did your 14 month old eat?

1

u/wonderbat3 8h ago

In-n-out is still cheap in my area. It’s only like $6 for a Double Double. Used to be like $4 though

0

u/xSuperZer0x 7h ago

Yeah but then you're eating In-N-Out

1

u/ShawnyMcKnight 7h ago

I’m curious if that’s a location thing or what. I was there recently and there’s a ton of stuff between $15 and $30 and since it already has the soup, breadsticks, and salad you don’t need an appetizer.

1

u/Funny_Inspection_601 2h ago

And it’s gross

I think Olive Garden uses the same crack in their food that McDonald's does. Why the actual fuck do people go there?

In lots of middle America it’s sometimes the best/only accessible “Italian” food available, as sad as that is to say.

But if someone lives in a moderately-sized city or larger and still choose it over a local Italian spot… I don’t know what to say about that.
