This happens to me literally every day. It’s the worst. I just want to sleep to my alarm.

100%. I think it’s an age thing. My body likes to remind me of all my work and life stress around 4am every morning, and there’s no hope of going back to sleep then. Sleeping to my 6:45 alarm is incredibly rare.

Start working out at 4am when that happens.

Will help alleviate some of that stress, you'll fall asleep earlier the next night, and high chance of staying asleep until your alarm the next day.

Ironically you'll start setting your alarm earlier though because this ends up making every day feel better and every night's sleep more productive.

I routinely get up at 3:45 am to work out, run, or cycle, and I STILL wake up around 2:00 am the following day having to pee. I've went as far to stop all liquid consumption by mid afternoon and guess what happened that night? woke up at 2:00 am having to pee!

Now I just embrace it, it's part of my morning now. I'm 43 but this has been going on for years now.

This is exactly what happens to me as well. Everything after 4 a.m. is light dozing, just awake enough to think of all the work you need to do. It's like your subconscious mind doesn't have all of its protection mechanisms that are normally active during the daytime, so there's nothing to stop the flood.

Also, you need less sleep the older you get

One man's 10/10 is another's 0/10. Swimming in bioluminescent water like another comment said means ocean (?) at night!?! Yea.. no thank you.

I sleep almost every night without waking up during it. But sometimes, only a few times a year I wake up early.
The worst scenario is waking up totally tired 2 minutes before your alarm. But what gives me delight is when the alarm is in 4+ hours. I always feel like I get twice the sleep then.
